We almost did it...Wow, Santorum is saved, Gingrich is finished.

since he didn't speak or buy a booth it's clear he staked his campaign upon this...

Mitt Romney was a big loser today if 718 people were willing to write-in Perry, who totally gave the finger to the event.

Wow, pretty close. The Paul people will be crying foul, no doubt.
Im a Paul supporter, but I dont see how the ballot could be stuffed, with it being so close. So one will bitch and moan, but we have to get over it, we still did better then last time Smiley

It's straw poll, too.  Every single ballot cast was stuffing.

718 for Perry, as stated above.

I think I was wrong. there were 718 write-ins, not 718 write-ins for Perry.  He may have beaten Romney, anyways.

I think Pawlenty is in it for the entire ordeal.  I don't think he'll drop out until after he gets under 5% in both Iowa and New Hampshire (and I firmly believe that that will happen).

Well, he's pretty much the Richardson of this cycle so that's a reasonable preiction.  Looks good on paper and clicking on no cylinders.

I'll take a stab at the top 3:

T1) Bachmann: ~29%
T2)Paul: ~28%
T3)Perry Write In: ~12%
T3)Pawlenty: ~12%

I've heard 16K total votes.  Assuming that is correct.

4,823 – Bachmann (30%)
4,671 – Paul (29%)
2,293 – Pawlenty (8%)

Dang I'm pretty good at predictions.

A vague attempt at grading the outcomes:

Bachmann 4823 - Good
Paul 4671 - Very Good
Pawlenty 2293 - Mediocre
Santorum 1657 - Average
Cain 1456 - Average
Perry 718?  - Very Good, if they're all for him.
Romney 567 - Mediocre
Gingrich 385 - Bad
Huntsman 69 - Bad
McCotter 35 - Roflcopter

I think there could have been a little fraud going on that prevented him from winning. It still is good news for him if 2008 is used an example of who goes on to win the caucus. Bachmann will probably fall into the same trap as Romney did and peak too soon.

162 votes were "scattered".

Rick Parry votes?

And, what about Palin?

Chuck Todd said there were over 800 write-ins total.

Where are you getting Rick Perry numbers?

162 went to other candidates, I never saw Rick Perry's number

Rick Perry's number was reported on CNN.  700 and something or other.

Decent for Perry.

I'm curious to know what other write-ins there were though. I bet Obama got a few at least.

Since I think Paul's the only respectable candidate in this field, I was sort of rooting for them.  No, I wouldn't support him in the general election, but I was hoping he'd do well.  Second place ain't bad.

lol. Conspiracy fail. Those votes are certainly for Palin and others; 'scattering' votes happen in every election with a write-in option.

I hope Perry enjoys the success while it lasts. It will all go downhill for him from here. I'm still amazed that Paul almost won. Considering Bachmann has raised probably a lot more money, and has a higher media profile, she only managed to win the poll by a small margin? Paul has demonstrated he is a serious threat to the GOP establishment this time around, and that his supporters are energized and willing to show up. Let's just hope Iowa experiences massive snowfall come February.

from @FixAaron: "That's right folks, two members of the HOUSE just took the top two spots in Ames, and it wasn't close. "

That's true! is one of them the new Abraham Lincoln? hahahaha

Oh, and Santorum's not quitting. Obviously. Encouraging results for him
