Junkie, would you be interested in doing this? As someone who's relatively new, you would have a neutral viewpoint, and you've done great work on legal matters so you have an established track record. Certainly we would all be willing to help you in your task, with interviews or contributions or any of that.

Absolutely.  I vote for Junkie!  The Nyman Times will pay for all necessary costs.

Would the Nyman Times be able to convince my fiance not to leave me when I spend so much time on that project?  Seriously, it is a tempting project.  I just spent the last hour starting at the beginning and only got through four pages.  Very interesting stuff.  My favorite so far the quasi-Saddam style hunt of some cat named Father Joshua.

I will think about it, but it definitely would be a project.  Kind of concentrating on the Senate race and working in the Assembly.

If you just sifted through the masses of old threads here you wouldn't really get what went on a lot of the time. Partly because a lot of the very old stuff didn't survive a big forum crash a few years ago, but mostly because of all the stuff that goes on (or at least did in my day*) in private.

Anyway, I'm more than happy to be interviewed.

Kept reading and holy cow -- there was a fricking civil war in 2004!  Kept skimming and I think I found a coup!  Now that is an interesting history!

By the way, this post started with Hamilton (before my time, but I think I figured out a little about what he did) showing a lot of knowledge about things before his time.  Was it ever figured out if he had operated under a different name?

I will whore myself out to be interviewed on my time here. I always rather enjoy it and I've never really gotten to share much in interviews.

All right, if I am too seriously consider this immense project.  I am thinking about trying to work on the first year.  Who is still around from that time?  This of course will take some time.

Ah, the first Civil War.  I remember it well...

Really, compared to all the other disturbances we've had, it was the most fun Smiley

EDIT: Al, Lewis, and I may be the only regularly contributing posters who have been around since almost the beginning.  Al I think has been around since the very beginning; Lewis and I joined slightly later, around the time of the first ConCon.  (We were early members of the Progressives, the first of the umpteen "left-leaning minority parties")

Boss Tweed was of course the founder, though he's not in Atlasia anymore.

I was around in the early days.  Then I left for a few years, then came back.

All right, I will consider writing this up.  If everyone here is willing to fill me in things not covered in the posts, we should be able to get a pretty good history.  I have an outline already, just need to do the work.  I will start with the research (checking the posts in three threads will be tedious) and then move on to the interviews.  I think having an idea of what I am talking about will be a good place to start before I start asking questions.

I will do this in addition to running for the Senate, but don't worry, I have my time scheduled up pretty good.

If you PM Tweed (username miamiu or some such) I'm sure he'd answer any questions you have from the very very early days.

Also, I've been here since early '05 if you care to ask me anything.

Al I think has been around since the very beginning

That's right, yes. Gustaf, Hugh and Eric were as well. Other people there at the beginning are occasionally around the forum (Don for example).

The game eventually turned into the opposite of what we intended, which is kind of sad in retrospect and is probably why none of us are properly involved anymore.

All those names are on my list for follow up questions once I finish the outline.  Trust me, there are a number of things that need to be explained.

It's currently very, very difficult to find applicable law under the list of passed laws based on divining the statute's (often misleading) title, unless one was actually present and remembers its passage.

What we need even before a narrative history, IMHO, is codification of current law by subject heading.

All right, I have completed the outline and am just waiting on some questions to be finished.  Hopefully, first section out within a week or two.

I'm really enthusiastic for this project, not because I can contribute to it myself (I'm still a young compared to most of you Wink) but because I've always been very interested in knowing better Atlasian history. So I'm impatiently waiting for your first publishments. Smiley

I am very excited about this project and cannot wait to read the first section.  I have only been here since August so there is obviously a lot I don't know and am interested in learning.
