Bass literally she used to be one of those "defund the police" people when she was younger. She has numerous problematic issues.

Duckworth or Harris are the least problematic of the bunch.

It still appears convincingly that a lot of these stories and people are all red herrings. And it's almost as if they are putting out these Harris hit pieces to rally people around Harris and defend her from the sexist attacks.

Harris, Demings, or Duckworth would be the best picks imo.

The destruction of Karen Bass is absolutely shameful. Especially when she went out of her way to praise Harris earlier. She's a good person. She didn't ask for this. Harris could have raised her concerns privately with the Biden team. Bass didn't have to be humiliated, assassinated, dragged through the mud in front of the entire nation. Her entire life of public service will now be remembered for this. I don't want Bass as VP, but this is just awful. How cold and heartless do you have to be do that to a person?

Except most average voters are not like us on this board. If they think Harris or Rice has a high probability of becoming a campaign liability, they can deal with 48 hours of angry activists in exchange for avoiding lasting problems.

This. A black woman VP would be wonderful, as would another minority woman as VP, and as would a white woman because we've never actually had a female VP. But the whole "IT HAS TO BE A BLACK WOMAN!" thing is pure beltway consultant logic and not grounded in reality. Duckworth is just such a great choice that I feel like the only reason she won't be chosen is if Biden bows to consultant logic.

I can't decide if I want Rice or Whitmer less.

Why?

Whitmer is two years into her governorship, not only is it opportunistic, but I do not necessarily believe she is ready to be President if God forbid she became President suddenly.

Furthermore I believe she has a duty to directly govern her state in a time of crisis.

That being said the more I think about it she is preferable to Rice.

She does have a LT Governor who can easily take over and manage the state

Whitmer really is doubling down on the suburbs if Biden selects her but I would argue it’s a pretty sound strategy. She’ll have much more appeal where the flips are compared to Coastal Rice and Harris.

It is a good point. Harris is one of the most liberal members of the Senate and she’s from Oakland, CA. Doesn’t exactly connect well with voters in MI,PA,WI. Not saying she’s a bad pick and obviously it will have very little effect but the whole “coastal elite” thing is grounded in reality, it’s sad and I wish democrats could do more to change that perception, since the GOP is the true party of the elites.
