Here is the scary thing

If the GOP underperforms when Trump isn't on the ballot but overperforms when he is, would the party become more Trumpist?

I'm curious if this will come true in a literal sense, e.g. the various Trump kids are successful candidates in Republican primaries because of branding and the man himself can only run for one office again.

I don't see the Trump kids having much success in primaries.  They don't have the same charisma that Trump does to impassion followers.

I agree, although it looks like they'll try. Ivanka will run for President at some point and she's the only one with a prayer of catching lightning in a bottle twice IMO.

Did he forget about Jimmy Carter?

Jimmy Carter lost but the Dems were able to hold the House. However, Bush in 1992 lost the WH, Senate and House also.

Democrats had the Senate and House for Bush's entire term, so it's not the same.
Well, the Dems in 1932 retained the majority they gained in 1930.

The tweet says in a single term, not a single election. Hoover lost the House in 1930 and the Senate & Presidency in 2020. Trump lost the House in 2018, the Presidency in 2020, and the Senate in 2021.

This. It's all about enjoying the trifecta at the beginning and losing it completely by the end.

Does anyone know when the races will be certified, allowing Warnock and Ossoff to be sworn in? I know that the Georgia capitol, and SOS Raffensperger had to be evacuated yesterday - will that slow the process down?

Check a few pages earlier, there is info there.

Oh look, you can see the county in North Georgia where Trump held his rally.
