Uhhh, I feel like this could end very badly for Ossoff and Warnock:

They're already being characterized as communists, terrorists, and Chinese puppets in the ads--anybody turned off by a Bernie endorsement has already long ago bought into the narrative.

imo wasserman is a republican hack imo i'm tired of the pundits underestimating dems tbh

Not that I personally think GOP turnout will be low (though I'm obviously hoping) but saying this won't happen because the other claims were wrong is ironic considering Raffensperger said during an interview that there were about 20k or so Republicans who voted by mail during the primary, and did not vote at all in the GE.

20k can mean anything

They could have died or moved away

He explicitly stated he feels Trump's rhetoric hurt GOP turnout and cited that.

CNN is making these races look closer than they actually are at this point. Thinking about turning it off.

CNN has been sensationalist trash TV since at least 2013 and has done more work than anybody to make sure Trumpism became mainstream, it's probably best to turn them off permanently.

Are the mail votes being counted now or after like they were on the GE day?

Ugh I really need to go to bed.

But I was here when GA flipped to Biden at the crack of dawn and I'm gonna be here when an official call is made, dammit!

Wasn't that 2-3 days later?

Why is everyone celebrating? The GOP are still well ahead
Or am I missing something?

DeKalb is going to wipe that out

Mark my words this isn’t even close to over

Your takes on this increasingly sound like you're rooting for the Dems to lose.

Hey remember this morning when everyone was freaking out about Election Day turnout?

Sounds like I made the right choice in forgetting today was election day until about two hours ago.

Uhhhh Dekalb CEO Thurmond just said there are only 130k votes left to count in Dekalb...

If that's all that are left and I'm looking at the current totals, Dekalb would only be at around 70% of November's raw totals...that'd be among the lowest (if not the lowest) turnout in the state.

Does that include mail votes?

I’m shocked we’re grabbing defeat from the jaws of victory.

Shocked I tell you.

Where are the posts who mocked me?

You are literally adding nothing to the discussion.

Manchin voted to impeach Trump. No way he switches parties.

Might be trying to convince McConnell to pass the $2000 stimulus so Republicans can take credit for it, if this is true in the first place.

Cobb, DeKalb, Henry are the only counties remaining with large numbers of outstanding votes, correct?

Coffee county is still 64% out.

Dems are doomed.

That'll net no more than 6k for GOP if I've calculated it correctly.

He flipped two previously deep red states (AZ and GA) blue and both will have two Democratic senators, giving us a trifecta.

If there was any doubt Trump was a failed president for his party before, it's gone now. Don't be surprised if they start to lose faith and look elsewhere.

Biden was supposed to win in a 2008 style landslide. A 4.5 point win was a semi disappointment for Biden. The CNN exit polls had Trump at 50% approval in 2020, which is terrifying.

2020 should've shown you that neither CNN nor exit polling should be taken as reliable sources.

Ugh hopefully Manchin uses his power to stop the left wing agenda and force a more centrist agenda to pass

Biden's agenda is already fairly centrist. It's like some Republicans forget who won the primaries.

Yah centrist compared to how far left the Democratic Party has become but it’s still much to the left of the Democratic Party circa 2015

2015? I really don't get the sense the party has moved all that left since then. Bernie lost twice, "The Squad" doesn't have any power within the party. The leftists may be loud but they are hardly pulling the strings of the party.

Look at how far left the democrats have moved on social issues since then , as well as the fact many in the party are for Court packing .

Even on other issues such as healthcare , the centrist position now is the public option while in 2015 that was the position of the progressive wing of the party . Even things like the green new deal which would have been nuts in 2015 are being entertained now

The party's actual policies that get passed are still very much centrist or center-right. What "many" in the party are saying is meaningless when it's not what they do once elected.

I can’t wait until that monument towards treachery and cruelty up on Stone Mountain is picked over. Might even happen in our lifetime.

It'll never go away, too much tourist money to be made.

Ossoff +13K now thanks to another small drop from DeKalb.

Warnock +50k.

Took a break from the thread (mainly because of derailing and slow counting) and figured I'd come back to Ossoff being about +1k, but I must say this is a very pleasant surprise.

Tonight's Big Winners: Ossoff, Warnock, Abrams, Biden

Tonight's Big Losers: Perdue, Loeffler, Trump, McConnell, CNN
How did CNN lose? The state they're headquartered in elected their first black and Jewish senators tonight and it was a defeat for Trumpism.

CNN was dooming about Ossoff all night even when it was clear he’d take the lead.

More to the point, CNN has lost their last bogeyman in government to keep their viewer base worried.

Pretty sure Cillizza will have 20 articles ready for tomorrow about how Ossoff and Warnock will never be sworn in.

Counterpoint: 90% of Twitter progressives political twitter are dumb as rocks, and I say this as a socialist myself.

FTFY. I've been blocking people ever since the primary who so much as even mention the election or politics.

Tonight's Big Winners: Ossoff, Warnock, Abrams, Biden

Tonight's Big Losers: Perdue, Loeffler, Trump, McConnell, CNN
Jan 5 big winners: Moderate/Liberal Democrats

Jan 5 big losers: The ability of Georgia Republicans to win statewide elections

Lauren McDonald says hi.

Come on people. This was a great result, but it was razor thin during what was basically a democratic year. We've hit purple Georgia status, but not Atlas read yet.

Wait another several years to a decade, and if current demographic Trends continue, yes the place will be closer to Virginia or Colorado. But we've got some time before we hit being anything other than a pure swing state.

In the meantime, we have to deal with the fact of places like Ohio switching from wing state status to atlas sapphire blue, plus places like , Wisconsin, and Michigan turning from Fairly reliable light Atlas red states to your toss-ups.

Democrats can't win runoffs in Georgia--that's been the conventional wisdom. Dems simply don't turn out, they're capped at 48-49%, even if they win in the GE they lose the runoff. Even in the most D years.

The reason this is a huge deal is all that went out the window in not one but two Senate races, and both outperformed Biden--without the help of a third party.
