Bad news for Coloradans, case number rises are going up again. We thought we hit an early peak when for a few days it went down to 250+, but they are bouncing back. 410 new cases have been reported today. Whether the increase will reverse or not will be seen this next week.
Also here is a nice article that everyone should read, especially all the virus-truthers on here.
https://www.google.com/amp/s/kdvr.com/news/coronavirus/denver-professor-living-in-spain-says-us-is-not-doing-enough-to-combat-coronavirus/amp/

It never went down, those three days were outliers, and overall if you look at the bigger picture it's going down.

Meat processing plants are the new hot spots

https://www.cnn.com/2020/04/12/business/meat-plant-closures-smithfield/index.html

The one is Sioux Falls employs 3700 people and the number of positive cases was up to almost 300 at last count.

Quote
"The closure of this facility, combined with a growing list of other protein plants that have shuttered across our industry, is pushing our country perilously close to the edge in terms of our meat supply," the meat processor's chief executive, Kenneth Sullivan, said in a statement Sunday.
"It is impossible to keep our grocery stores stocked if our plants are not running," he said. "These facility closures will also have severe, perhaps disastrous, repercussions for many in the supply chain."

Load up on the bacon boys.

Lettem get it. The workers are young anyways. The meat industry can't just halt.

Very brave of you.  How do you stop it from overwhelming the community at large?

If it overwhelms the community, so what? Most of these plants are located in rural towns with 3,000-10,000 people.

Here's a fun fact: people in small towns are people too.

It's not like they are going to all die, the mortality rate on this thing is much much lower than expected.

Curious to know, what do you think the true mortality rate is?

Less than 1%.

I’m sure this will go over well with the public opinion.

That's misleading, here's the actual tweet.

However, the "I banned China" quote is still pretty dumb.

Why are there morons in the UK destroying 5G towers believing that 5G causes Corona? Beyond stupid. That behavior better not spread to the US in any meaningful way.

It already has.

Updated cumulative European new case and death graphs (showing 5-day weighted averages):

I think it is pretty clear that the lockdowns have stopped the continued growth of the virus in most places.  What is much less clear, and much less encouraging, is whether the lockdowns are effective at steadily and efficiently reducing the virus toward an level where it will be acceptable to open things back up again.  Italy in particular hasn't really seen any continued progress over the last week.

I could be wrong, but the ripple effect of the virus in Italy was apparently extremely slow, and many areas of the country were exposed to it very late, which could be responsible for the slow recovery.

The last two days have been promising in Italy however, and overall the rate is decreasing.

Minnesota has among the lowest infection rates. Why would they want to looped in with Michigan?

They aren't peaking out until much later in the month. Letting the TrumpFeds bend them over would be disastrous for them.

Interesting article in Fortune -- "What Do Countries With The Best Coronavirus Reponses Have In Common? Women Leaders":

Quote
Looking for examples of true leadership in a crisis? From Iceland to Taiwan and from Germany to New Zealand, women are stepping up to show the world how to manage a messy patch for our human family. Add in Finland, Iceland and Denmark, and this pandemic is revealing that women have what it takes when the heat rises in our Houses of State. Many will say these are small countries, or islands, or other exceptions. But Germany is large and leading, and the UK is an island with very different outcomes. These leaders are gifting us an attractive alternative way of wielding power. What are they teaching us?
https://www.forbes.com/sites/avivahwittenbergcox/2020/04/13/what-do-countries-with-the-best-coronavirus-reponses-have-in-common-women-leaders/?fbclid=IwAR28sXmEZPWr6rSMQIFYtajL0T8MFnIbcwrgWGMSESeh-dKFSTOSd7xqG8A#42b1473d3dec

Great, using a pandemic to promote p***y power.

Coronavirus is this generation’s WMD.

Fear mongering hysteria, built on faulty intelligence. History will not be kind to the overreaction and all the tragedy brought on by the sharp economic downturn.

You won’t feel so dismissive when the fallout from this cripples your generation for the next decade.

It will harm us, but the response isn't going to change that.

Can’t say trump has done a lot of right over the last few years, but this is an obvious move to make until the fire the head of the WHO.

Hopefully we see some major sanctions towards the ppc in the future.
Not a chance. The trade negotiations with Beijing are very telling, imo. He has no talent for this sort of thing.

I would say a few hundred to thousand extra elderly people dead is a valid discussion to have in exchange for saving the youngest generation from a brutal recession.
America is the richest country that's ever existed in the history of the planet and human race. They can survive a recession without dropping live citizens into the open jaws of the wealth gods. You're advocating for exact opposite of heroism. Humans aren't spread sheet numbers.
I mean, at some point, we do have to ask ourselves the value of a human life if this virus doesn’t diminish by Mid-May/June, but to say the lockdowns were not worth it seems far-fetched right now.
Fortunately for us, almost all signs are pointing to the threat depleting by June, mid-June at the latest.
