Ranch and pizza is a "traditional" meal? Yikes

It's probably a play on Pizza Ranch which is a popular chain in Iowa

Here in Illinois I know several people who put ranch on their pizza and occasionally I do so myself.

If you’re an Iowan living abroad and participate in a satellite caucus, is it on you to abstain from the Democrats Abroad primary? Or how does that work?

Updated first round results:

54 Klobuchar (25%)
50 Buttigieg (23%)
42 Sanders (19%)
37 Biden (17%)
30 Warren (14%)
  4 Yang (2%)
  2 Steyer (1%)

How does this end up getting weighted in terms of delegates though? What happened so far is Klobuchar won that nursing home caucus, Warren won the wine-track one in Paris, and Bernie won all the other ones. Do they all count for similar #s of delegates, or does the Florida nursing home one count for more since it had more people?

“Wine track one in Paris”

I love the spin. Sounds like a fun time tbh.

Confused by the interviewees in Des Moines saying that they support Klobuchar but aren't going to her corner because they don't think she'll be viable.

Like 5 people they talked to said that. If everyone saying it went to her corner she'd probably be viable lol.

From an observational standpoint, this is the worst caucus in my lifetime. It's not just the difficulty/delay in vote-counting (which given all the candidates, is understandable): it's also how virtually every single outlet isnt capable of presenting their data right (terrible entrance polls, inability to tally reported votes, etc).

Yep, and CNN’s team is seemingly ignorant on how the process runs. This is such an anticipated event and there’s such a big lead up to it, you’d think they’d have done their research

IDP is trying to ensure the “accuracy” of the result. What the hell does that mean? Do they already have the magnifying glasses out examining the ballots?

New rule: Illinois goes first. We’d have had this show wrapped up in 20 minutes and everyone could get home in time for dinner.

This. There are many many greater internal threats to our democracy then a state party stepping on its own tail while running its states caucus.

I don’t think you saw my response saying it was tongue in cheek

If IDP has 25% of precincts in as they say, why aren’t they reporting 25%? At least we’d have something.

It’s impressive how much more alarmist CNN is being compared to Fox and MSNBC. Very on brand.

Biden’s speech just is not good. It worries me deeply in the case that he should be nominated.

There is a contingent within the Democratic Party's cadres that would genuinely rather have eight years of Trump than four of Bernie or Warren, and at this point, while I don't think this is the case, I would not be at all surprised to hear that these people have engineered this mess to some end.

Bulls**t. This is seriously reckless rhetoric to throw around, and there is no place for conspiracy theorists in the Democrat party.

I'm not a Democrat, and Bernie isn't even my preferred candidate. If you can honestly say you'd be genuinely surprised to hear that there was some angle to this literally unprecedented incompetence on the part of the IADP, then, well, good for you.

This is a conspiracy theory and would be harmful to our democracy if it is popularized with zero evidence. You should be ashamed of yourself.

Questioning the legitimacy of what's going on tonight is what would be "harmful to our democracy"? Not upholding it? Seriously?

Absolutely. You have zero evidence to prompt such questions. You’re purely speculating without evidence. That kind of behavior puts the integrity of our systems into question unnecessarily. It’s something that Trump does too often and you should stop doing unless you’re ready to produce some evidence.

LOL. People aren't allowed to say "I'm fairly confident the Democrats DID NOT DO THIS INTENTIONALLY, but they're so corrupt that it wouldn't blow my mind if it ended up being true"? You need to take a step back and understand that the DNC is not above criticism, especially in America where the First Amendment exists. Chill out.

Classic. Claim that your First Amendment rights are being violated on an online forum when someone disagrees with you in debate.

Why does hearing the harsh truth have you so triggered though?
Because I've had enough of baseless lies eroding faith in our institutions over the past four years, and Democrats cannot allow unsubstantiated bulls**t like this to mess up our party unity again. There is ABSOLUTELY NO EVIDENCE for this, and it's important to call it out before it spreads. You should be ashamed of buying into this crap.

Yes. The lack of specific evidence for this is why I don't think that it's the case. Do you want to just read my original post over again, or do I have to restate it in small words?
The ad-hominem aside, of course I read it. I just think even bringing up the idea without rationale that it could be rigged is extremely dangerous and should not be done at all.

Yeah, never question the party.  The party knows what's best and can do no wrong.

Seriously.  You guys are more like commies than actual tankies.

I hope you realize that there needs to be extra caution taken when making allegations of voter fraud etc given what happened in 2016.

If you think that Blairite and I were making an argument that you cannot question the party at all as opposed to an argument that that questioning should be based in evidence, then you are truly delusional.

Given the number of folks recommending your comment and what I’ve seen elsewhere on this forum lately, I’m afraid that delusion is spreading quickly on these boards.

Kudos to the Warren and Klobuchar campaigns keeping their mouths shut and awaiting the results.

Biden’s team questioning the validity of the results, Bernie’s team releasing “their” version of the results, and Pete full out declaring victory makes the three of them look like children.

The only folks who look like children in all of this are those in the Iowa Democratic Party leadership.

They do as well, but how you respond to something like this says a lot about you and the people working for you. I’m pretty appalled by how these candidates have responded.
