Chelsea Manning is one of the only Democrats that could lose a Maryland Senate race.
Sweet maybe the democrats should nominate manning then Wink

People who work for the federal government also live in Maryland. A lot of them are Democrats. They don't view Chelsea Manning as a hero. Trust me.

DC area libs are god awful, yes.

If Chelsea does well enough that she can share a debate stage with Cardin and take him to town for his god awful foreign policy then I'll be happy.

LOL man this thread is a dumpster fire.

A candidate that brings out the two worst people, transphobes and people who unironically love the deep state.

"Cardin isn't a centrist"

I agree, his foreign policy is nearly the same as Lindsey Graham's, he's on the far right.

I'm not a fan of Ben Cardin, but I don't think I can support Manning over Cardin based on the fact we don't know her policies on minimum wage, housing, social security and her lack of focus on these issues. This plus her connections to Assange and her outlandish twitter posts is the reason why she is far from an ideal candidate. Plus while what Manning did was not wrong, I don't think it was right either.

She is not going to win under any circumstances, she is running in MD, one of the worst blue (atlas red) states for her to run in.

I can assure you she has good positions on all of those issues. Also lol at "We can never let someone who uses EMOJIS into the Senate, the horror"

Oh man I'm trying so hard to resist the temptation to read the previous pages of this thread. This is gonna be a hilarious read when Manning inevitably gets like 6% of the vote and Cardin get 85%.

June 26, 2018. That's gonna be a hilarious night.

I can see it now: Chelsea conceding in a beautiful and inspiring speach after a spirited campaign, and a million Atlas virgins going U MAD? OWNED LOL I LOVE THE NSA

I still find it hilarious that a TRANSWOMAN is considered some sort of Russian spy.

I guarantee you she hates Russia and Putin.

Then why did she aid a staunch Putin ally and likely FSB asset?

Because the gave the info to the NYT and WaPo first and they did nothing with it? And acting like she should have known everything we know now about WikiLeaks in 2018 way back in 2010 is an extremely bad faith line of criticism, and straight-up revisionist history?

seriously, this would be a colossal f@ckup by the dems wtf

How? In the event she somehow wins the primary, then obviously your concerns over government employees/black voters not supporting her would be proven unsubstantiated. She'd cruise through the general.

Chelsea has been posting some of her policy positions on Twitter today and she's running very, very far left: she supports a universal basic income and dismantling ICE and Customs/border police. On January 10 on Twitter, she referred to ICE as "the new gestapo."

This isn't a realistic policy position and plays into the conservative strawman of the Left. Like it or not, ICE and CBP need to exist in some form because otherwise human trafficking and smuggling of endangered species and cultural treasures would run amok.

ICE is a corrupt entity ran and staffed by America's worst cops. It should absolutely be dismantled, with it's actually important duties shuffled off to better ran agencies.

Also UBI is no longer a very, very, far left position and hasn't been for a while.

I apologize, I was under the impression it was. I never hear about it. Have any elected officials in the US been championing it?

Ro Khanna + Bernie Sanders. Tech CEO's like Musk and Zuckerberg are big advocates for it. It's the kinda thing where eventually, as automation grows, it's going to be a bigger and bigger issue and you'll see more Democrats stop giving non-committal answers.

Thank God Maryland democratic primaries are largely made up of African Americans and Government and Military Industry Complex workers. They are not going to stand for this bs! They will demolish Manning!

Never thought I'd see a red avatar quote the phrase "Thank God for the military-industrial complex".
Maybe try and understand this issue at more than a surface level. Yes, the military contractors are an unfortunate reality in the states around DC. However, the fact remains that they provide a lot of jobs for us and rarely lay off people. War is often profitable.

I think that is literally the most surface-level take you could have on the military industrial complex.

I'm confused. You support Russia meddling in your country's elections with coordination from the president and a major political party?

There's a difference between being slightly concerned and using Infowars style conspiracies to shout down every voice that challenges the multinational oligarchy, like you're doing.

For the record, Dan Canon in IN-09 also supports abolishing ICE, and any Democrat that cares about immigrants literally at all should.

So there’s a rumor that Chelsea was palling around with Mike Cernovich floating around the Twittersphere

Bad reporting n the behalf of Buzzfeed, Manning was there but only as a rabble-rouser/party crasher:

Why are people surprised that Manning was so cozy with Cernovich and his Nazis?
I thought after the last two years everybody would be familiar by now with the Horseshoe Theory.

Horseshoe Theory is junk.

Reality disagrees with you.

Horseshoe theory is real, in that centrist libs and hardcore conservatives have the exact same opinion on foreign policy, domestic surveillance, most economic issues, ect.

Apparently a lot of Atlas users don't mind the military slaughtering innocent people.

8 years of Obama made most red avatars forget they were supposed to be anti-war and anti-NSA.
