Trump should not be impeached or removed from office. That would turn him into a martyr and further radicalized his supporters.

At this point, his supporters’ needs or wishes are irrelevant.

Trump is leaving office in 2 weeks. Removing him a few days early is not worth the cost.
Worth it to ban him from running in 2024.

Sadly, a successful impeachment wouldn't bar him from running.

A removal would.

How much more radicalized does one get from storming the capital to kidnap and presumably murder congressmen?

There comes a point where the threat of escalation is no longer worth considering.

Richard Ojeda calls for criminal charges against Trump:

DC Attorney General just called for the 25th amendment, also.

I believe the Senate should still object to bad certificates. Specifically the certificate making Josh Hawley a senator from Missouri.

If the 25th isn’t invoked, then impeach and convict.  If impeachment doesn’t happen, then criminal charges need to be brought to him.

They cannot let him just get away with this.

It's a big if, but if Republicans withdraw their objections after this - let's be honest here - terrorist attack, Trump's encouragement of this kind of violence will have cost him whatever little benefit for his future carreer he could've gotten out of the whole kabuki of objections.

Fantastic job, Donald.

The international community seems far more concerned and sickened by this than the Ukraine Scandal, Mueller Report, or even Charlottesville.

As late as it is for America, there might be a real chance the 25th amendment or an impeachment occurs here.

This is objectively worse than all three of those combined.

I agree with you here. But it's astounding to me how all of these events occurred under just this President alone, to say nothing of the pandemic. In watching the media coverage, I was still shaken by seeing the members of Congress, their staffers, journalists, and members of law enforcement wearing masks, while virtually all of the anarchists were maskless. That was a visual reminder of the ongoing crisis which helped to cost Trump reelection, and which he so badly mismanaged. I don't think it's a stretch to say that every single American has been impacted negatively by this man, and the effects of his Presidency are going to last for decades to come.

All we can do is hope for brighter days ahead brother.

They cannot let him just get away with this.

None of this is either/or. They can knock him out now with 25th Amendment, then impeach and convict, THEN try him criminally!

However for now it kinda seems like the 25th has been all but informally invoked; the National Guard answered to Pence, and it seems everyone is just ignoring Trump. This seems more realistic to me: Invoke no formal powers to remove him, but also don’t let him actually do anything.

Let’s just hope he doesn’t get extremely vindictive and call for a nuclear strike or something in a narcissistic rage (if I can’t be president, the whole world deserves to burn!). And if so, hopefully it’s like how when SecDef ordered the Joint Chiefs to ignore Nixon’s orders during Watergate.

I’m surprised Ojeda didn’t call for Trump to fist fight him on the south lawn.

This was a terrorist attack today.  Donald Trump is the Osama bin Laden in this scenario.

Our President is a terrorist.

He has to go.

Wasn't there some town in Pennsylvania a few years ago where some cops who were Tea Party members did pretty much the same thing as this? I seem to remember that they somehow overthrew the town council.

Those numbers actually look better than I thought? It's the Republican Party that's clearly beyond saving.

Wow 25th might actually be invoked. Historic day and not in a good way. Disaster!

Whether you like pence or not at this point it needs to be done.

Yeah plus a majority wants Trump removed from office immediately which is nice.

It’s possible to do both.
