Well, that's cool, provided that he isn't lying.

Specter will vote against cloture for the EFCA. And there goes the only group of people that still supported this idiot.

Silver gives Toomey a 10% chance at the general (although he admits he's just pulling numbers out of his ass).  This sort of over-confidence could be costly

Yeah, but he also gives Specter an 80% chance at the general if he wins the primary, which is ridiculous.

Rowan and Phil, what exactly were your predictions in 2008 again?

Pretty accurate actually. I was off on Florida, Ohio, Indiana, North Carolina and NE 2 (the final three were extremely close). That's it but that's not the point. He's gotten so silly now, admits that the numbers are pulled out of his ass and people like BRTD (and you, I guess) still defend it.

What? I'm not defending him... I just called his numbers ridiculous. But a couple stupid predictions aren't that significant, when he gets most everything else right.

Facebook Fan Page update...

Arlen Specter - 4,049

Pat Toomey - 3,956

A lot of my friends that are big into College Democrats have become Facebook fans of his (Specter's) in recent days. It's really gross.

Congressman Sestak impressive on CNN. Visiting him tomorrow.

There's the clip of Sestak on CNN, if people are interested. I was impressed, especially that he didn't try to beat around the bush or triangulate in his criticism of Specter; he clearly laid out his argument against Specter's candidacy in the Democratic primary and made a lot of very strong points.

Tom DiLorenzo has a good idea for Pennsylvania Republicans:

I know a few people that will be doing that and my DINO Grandfather will be remaining a Dem to vote against him as well.

Even if it means voting for someone more liberal/progressive than Specter? Though I guess Sestak, with his military experience and stuff, wouldn't be that much of a stretch for Republicans to vote for.

He thinks Coleman should be seated?

...

him. I don't care if he switches to support EFCA or votes 100% with Obama from now on or punches Mitch McConnell in the face.  him. He's as bad as the Lieberman, and Sestak better run against him.

Actually Phil and him would probably get along pretty well, as long as they only talked about Specter.

The Ridge thing is weird. A few days before people started seriously talking about him, I had read that was he was done with politics and happy with his work in the private sector, where he was making considerably more money and could afford to put all his children through college.

Did you vote for that?  Haha, I forgot to mention that these are just ploys to put you on the mailing list.

I'm already on like >15 mailing lists, I don't really mind.

I also support his no vote on the Employee Forced Choice Act. I think Congresspeople should take a very strong stand against bills that don't exist.

I oppose the Forced choice act, because there's no such thing. I strongly support the Employee Free Choice Act.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090511/ap_on_go_co/us_specter_health_overhaul

Specter reversess his position on having a public component in healthcare reform.  Shocked, I'm shocked.

Odds of Senator Sestak drop rather substantively.  Health care is something that could come down to a 59-60 wire and there is nothing more important on the Democratic agenda this year.

Don't we only need 51 votes for that?

Lunar, why do you have such an ugly picture of Specter in your signature.

Do you have a pretty one I can use?

Wait... Specter is attacking Sestak for not being a registered Democrat when he was a commissioned officer in the US armed forces?

Huh

What a sad, pathetic old man. Can't wait until he loses! Smiley

Wow. How long until Specter jumps ship and becomes an independent?
