Among my generation, one's upbringing has virtually nothing to do with one's current religious affiliation from what I've noticed.
This seems pretty true but there are still mainline protestants because there parents were. It even seems like there is more of that lip service to Christianity among Protestants than among Catholics from what I've seen.

Atheist in the strict sens of the term, I mean, I don't believe in some higher powers some would call "God(s)". I precise in the strict sens of the term because, I don't know away but I feel that for a significant part of people at least here in France, atheist means against religion, or without religion.

I don't believe in "God(s)", I'm not satisfied by other existing paths, I'm looking for something...

Oh and:

When we're children, we know Santa is real for a fact and fight over it.  Then all of a sudden when we become teenagers, he's not real anymore because everyone around us tells us otherwise.

Euh, do people in US (NJ?) stop to believe in Santa when they become teenager?

Or you become teenagers when you're very young there. Let's hope it's neither the one nor the other...

What's the difference between that and being an agnostic?

Some of us agnostics may very much wish for the existence of a God or an objectivity or some higher order, spend a ridiculous amount of time laboring over philosophical concepts, and feel that theological self-questioning is of great importance in their life even if their conclusion is not concrete.

Apatheists manage to reach a similar conclusion without wasting their time Tongue

God, by nature, is immune from proof or disproof to the living. Agnosticism requiring proof of God's existence before a change will simply never change.

Faith is a mandatory prerequisite to belief in God. Fortunately, furiously challenging and questioning ones own faith is not contradictory to having faith. I would rather have my faith as it is, with countless scars and healed wounds from trying times and the rigors of examining ones own core beliefs, than to keep it cocooned by orthodoxy and ritual.

"Mint in box" is a good condition for something you're selling on EBay, not ones religious ideas.
