If Obama doesn't have core beliefs, who does? Certainly not McCain. I mean, its like Republicans are accusing Obama of not being liberal enough.

I don't like him. If I were an American I'd vote for him, of course (none of the protest candidates look both interesting and not totally crazed) but I'd be under no illusions as to what he'll be like when he gets in power. I've not yet moved to actively disliking him though.

What's to like?  He's a right-winger.  But he is so much better than the alternative.

Unfavorable (D).

He really just comes off as more of the same lately.

I still like the guy, but Obama really has to run a better campaign.

Favourable, just.

He's moving positions and it's rapidly clear he's just another politician. Amazing what people will do for the Gold Codes.

Using this one as an example, not trying to pick on you.

What does everyone have against, "just another politician?"  I don't get this obsession with, "He's more of the same, I don't like him anymore."  Why does he have to be different to be positive?

Different in the american context would mean a leftist, a social democrat - in other words what most americans need in order to have better lives.  'More of the same' means the endless alternation between extreme right-wing and center-right.

Because he acted otherwise, at least initially. However, that's not what concerns me. What worries me is that he just seems to be caving into the Republicans on issue after issue in this effort to be bi-partisan. As much as I hate Reagan and W Bush, I don't think anyone can deny they had a clear agenda and pushed it through relentlessly. I really don't get that sense from Obama. As someone mentioned earlier he seems to not even have much of an end to justify his means.

Very favorable.

I wish he had more experience, but otherwise I have nothing to complain about with him.

Favorable.

Philosophically, his manner of campaigning earlier in the primary (building a "movement"/"our time is now") is pretty alien to me and got a little scary... but it's not that I don't like the good intentions behind them or getting people involved. I just like to see it last. There was really only one surge of successful, lasting political participation in our history and that was in the wake of states' expansion of universal white male suffrage and the birth of modern political parties in the 1830's. I'm a lot more comfortable with a politics that emphasizes hard work and delivering solutions, knowledge of details, compromise, and knowing how to work the system; and the subjective values behind those political values should be timeless, not temporal.

Still, Obama is an impressive guy, I think he understands that things are not easy. He certainly understands a lot of the problems that plague our political system.

I like Senator Obama. I think he's articulate and speaks his mind. He doesn't use big words to try to confuse a voter asking him a question.

And he beat Hillary!! Smiley

Very unfavorable (D)

I'm familiar with those 'movements', i come from Latin America.. and it is pretty scary. I'm still scared and concerned about the Obama cult and its effect on his own mental stability in the future.

LOL. You really don't understand the difference between a cult and popularity, do you?
