(D) favorable

Just the most interesting candidate to come along in quite a long time.  Don't think he is perfect by any means, but I really see a lot of myself (politically speaking) in him, and I can't help but get excited about that.  I really do think an Obama Presidency would create some true progress in the country; culturally, economically, and politically.  Call me an idealist if you like.

He really just comes off as more of the same lately.

That's pretty much my take, except for the (R) by my name. I really don't know if I care if Obama wins though. I believe my party needs to remake itself, and maybe we need a president Obama to do just that. But I'm unfavorable with him just because I don’t believe he has any principals.

Then again, maybe some of the same stuff could be said about McCain.

I'm not even sure what I'm being LOLed at for this time.  Obama has come across increasingly to me as a double-talker without even the principles to justify the means.  I don't think he's a terrible human being, but I think he's a disappointment.

(But as always, no one asked me.)

Favorable (D)

Annoying me a little lately but obviously not as much as some of the others here.

Then again, I was always anticipating the "move to the center".

Pretty much. I'm leaning towards staying home now or writing someone in. Not that it matters here.

(R) Somewhat unfavorable. Even though he is after my money, and a spendthrift and somewhat naive on foreign affairs matters (I think, but he's trimming so much these days, that I don't know who the real Obama is anymore),  he is no Great Satan.

Too bad this internet forum isn't anywhere close to being representative of the American people (especially it's Democrats).

Besides the FISA thing, which made me angry yes, this whole "move to the center" thing is a media-made myth.

You think? How could you possibly think that? Iraq, guns, FISA as you say, merit pay now, the dance away from black liberation theology, and on and on. I wonder when he is going to flip on oil drilling. I suspect he will. I don't think Obama has much of a core set of beliefs really.

Unfavorable (R)

As expected, Obama is just an empty suit who really has no core beliefs whatsoever.

Besides the FISA thing, which made me angry yes, this whole "move to the center" thing is a media-made myth.

Yes, that right-wing media. Did you type that with a straight face? FISA, his Iraq policy, gun rights, etc, etc, etc.... it's the media's fault?

Quite Favorable (D)

I think he has created a perception that he has moved to the center, but he remains much more liberal than most Democratic candidates in the past. I don't think he has yet changed his views on Iraq, rather he has decided to be open-minded. And that's a good, isn't it?

McCain is a "double-talker" too yet you voted favorable for him.

His position on Iraq is completely unchanged. He's been saying that we'd be as careful getting in as we were careless getting out since last year. He's never been some uber-liberal peacenik; he opposed the war because it was a stupid, pointless war, not because he's an isolationist or a pacifist. Regarding guns, I don't recall Obama ever stating that he supported the DC gun ban. He taught constitutional law before he ran for Senate, so I'd assume that, as something of a constitutional scholar, he would have a greater respect for gun rights than some liberals and he would be aware of the fact that the president really has very little to do with gun rights issues. The merit pay thing is fair, but I frankly don't care about that issue at all. Really, Obama's supposed flip-flops have been few and far between, on some random fringe issues that I and most voters don't care about.

I think that McCain has done expediency on some issues, but fewer just-plain-hypocritical stuff (like Obama sending his kids to private school but opposing vouchers).
