Israel equity markets are down 6% in Sunday trading which is not a surprise.

Hezbollah is now attacking Israel from the Lebanon border. Apparently, it’s under Islamic solidarity with Hamas.

It seems the IDF is yet to stop Hamas efforts within the 1967 borders.

The Brandenburg Gate in Berlin tonight.

Odd déjà vu... it used to be Blue-Yellow colour scheme back in February of 2022.

Hmm, Armenia wasn't important enough? Germany doesn't really care about the Armenians i suppose.

Giving unequivocal support for Israel for the right to defend itself by all means possible

Is also supporting the countless murder and killings and slaughter of countless civilians, including children.

Just ... would recommend the people in the thread to remember this image and picture it in your head before going to sleep. And than knowingly know that you actively wish for their harm (at least the majority posting in this thread).

It seems the ODF is yet to stop Hamas efforts within the 1967 borders.
From fragmented info I read they are still at the town of Ofakim.

I wonder if they have sent groups in disquise even farther inside Israel, since the border was completely broken.

That seems possible.
It would be a pretty massive failure if they were able to reach the West Bank.

There's 0% chance they can win. They'll absolutely be crushed, everyone knows that.

They haven't won a single conflict - basically ever.

Other fragmented info is that Hamas is advancing along the coastal highway towards Ashdod.

Israel has pretty good roads and distances are small if there is no traffic, defence in depth is not really possible beyond urban warfare.

Hezbollah did win in 2006, but from a defensive standpoint.

It's not I think their aim to win the war, but to convince Israel can never win either, a bit like the aftermath of the Yom Kippur War of 1973.

Egypt didn't win that war, but Israel recognized that it cannot fight Egypt forever and gave up the Sinai.

Apparently it's only 25 or so miles between Gaza and the West Bank.
That's not a lot of distance to have to cross.

I think their aim is to block a possible USA-brokered deal between Israel and Saudi Arabia.  I think they are successful in the sense that they have delayed such a deal into the indefinite future.  Weather it comes back really depends on the dynamics between Saudi Arabia and Iran.

I still can't understand just how the Israeli intelligence didn't catch this. Such a huge attack must have taken months to plan.

Hamas and their allies positioned thousands of rockets, equiped and readied a huge amount of fighters. Just how was this missed?

I have to assume all the infighting within the Israel establishment last few months over protesting against and trying to get rid of Netanyahu has to be part of it as it took their eyes off the ball.

Israeli political question - there was some talk yesterday in Israeli English-language media about formation of a national unity government, with Likud and Gantz offering their participation for the duration of the crisis.

Netanyahu seems to have said he'd only accept that if the likes of Ben Gvir also remain in the administration (which appears to be a red line for Likud).

Is there any chance of that broader coalition forming now? Or was this more about Likud and Gantz signalling cooperation for patriotic/political purposes, knowing that Netanyahu was likely to put forward some unacceptable red lines?

There were rocks used is yesterday's attack.

I saw it on the news. Just a few celebratory stones at the conclusion.

They have been throwing rocks since 1973.

Palestine just reminded the entire world that their home is still a warzone, and just completely destroyed Israel’s reputation as a safe country to visit. The Israeli tourism industry is going to be dead by everyone but religious zealots and those connecting with family for a good while.

Had Fatah not have been in the way to side with Israel if there were a war in the West Bank, Palestine would have won this war. Abbas’s bantustan is the only thing blocking an end to this war. Good riddance the zealous Trump Administration finally put UNRWA’s money laundering scheme to the coffin.

All eyes are on what the supposed invasion of Gaza is going to look like, as if any other front opens up Israel will continue to get bloody and have territory be in jeopardy bit by bit. They could have ended this conflict in the 90s by recognizing Palestine but didn’t out of wanting the whole pie. Like Armenia and Cyprus before it, not reading the room has negative consequences.
