If someone could wave a magic wand and ban all gun sales for civilians with no exceptions, with the guarantee that homicide/rape/robbery/assault rates would all go down, would you take this deal?

Of course Football players and Basketball players support ban on Assault Weapons

No one says ban in guns but ban on Concealed carry and Assault weapons, why do you think Clarence Thomas never attends SOTU because he lifted the Concealed carry Law in NY and doesn't want to hear ban in some guns

NASCAR, BASEBALL AND HOCKEY PLAYERS ARE HUNTERS JUST REMEMBER THAT

So when you watch the Superbowl Pat Mahomes supports universal gun control and so does Jalen Hurts

there is a zero percent change black pro athletes universally support gun control.  Hockey players number one off season hobby is golf.  I will not be watching the Super Bowl.

there are roughly 2000 black men in the 5 major North American pro leagues, there is no chance they all agree on anything, especially something as complex as gun control.

We aren't banning guns anyways it's called universal background checks that's why we need to take care business and win OH, NC and Win this time around OH is a pivotal state in the Senate and if we get the Filibuster proof Trifecta we will have universal background check not banning guns Reckoning is not being truthful here it's universal backgrounds and red flag laws DeSantis erased alot of Rick Scott red flag laws

We don't need TX, FL or IA all we need is AZ, GA, OH and NC but we welcome TX and FL and SC is gonna be a major battleground in 28 because Tim Scott is retiring and Harrison is likely to run in 28 and IA is only 3 percent black

The real issue is the type of guns. For example, AR-15 military rifles.

You don't need civilians with military grade weapons in an urban populated environment.

What crimes and how much lower, and for how long? In this rather absurd hypo (repealing the 2nd Amendment is a rather heavy lift, unless SCOTUS is packed with  a whole new of set activists the other way switched out changlings of Alito crowd), if the payoff is big enough, sure.

For gun nuts it's more important to soothe their insecure masculinity than saving lives.

Not a good thing if you allow corrupt police, political personnel and military personnel to have guns and not citizens. That's not a good idea at all. Where is the balance in that? Besides, what would you do with all the guns people presently own?

I wouldn't go for this deal as written.

I guess I am referencing the plague of mass shootings suffered by US society.

The numbers are increased when the assailant has an AR-15.

Considering that the main argument against gun control is that we have no evidence that it lowers overall violent crime rate, any scenario where gun control doesn't have that problem is a clear yes vote.

For once, TheReckoning offers an interesting hypothetical, especially for right wingers who simultaneously espouse support for gun ownership and concern for crime rates.

My answer is an obvious yes, but I would love to see the pretzel-bending mind implosions that Republicans are forced to reckon with from this scenario.

As someone who voted “no” to this poll, I would say that even if a ban on guns would lower crime rates, that does not automatically make it the best policy towards guns for lowering crime rates- that is, there might be better approaches out there that would lower crime rates even more.

Obviously, letting handguns freely flow through the population isn’t a good idea. That doesn’t mean that there can’t be limited scenarios in which people should be allowed to own a gun.

Sure, yes.
There are other modern societies that "live" without guns and gun rights.
They live perfectly well, less gun deaths and less gun violence/massacres in their nation.
Duh.

Absolutely not. Such a guarantee basically already exists in the short run anyway.
