There are G rated movies that show heterosexual couples kissing. Yet if two guys are shown kissing, the lowest it'll get is a PG-13. Is this good?

I vote no definitely. This passes the idea of homosexuality as "innappropiate"

In theory and based on what the ratings are stated to mean, no.

But the point of a G rating is basically to say "there is nothing here that anyone would find offensive whatsoever".  That would not be the case with two guys kissing, sadly enough, so the fact that they receive PG-13 ratings is more a sign of the times than anything else.

Two men in a pasionate kiss....Whoa yuck! Just let me know ahead of time so I can avoid that movie. Give it an H rating for homosexual content.

I know there are gay guys on this forum and what they do is their business as far as I am concerned. But how many straight guys would not find the thought of men kissing passionately at least a little bit repulsive?

I think as long as you don't imagine yourself in the picture...  Yes it is yucky, but hell, I'd be against movie ratings in the first place.  A single movie isn't going to damage a kid as long as his parents are responsible about it.

Of course not. I don't understand why so many people are disgusted by gay men kissing.

No it doesn't, but some women are offended by it.

There are labels on food which allow people to know what's in the product.
People who want to avoid saturated fat, or trans fat, or sugar can do it only if the label tells them what's in the product.
What's so bad about a rating system that allows potential movie viewers to have some idea about a movie's content? If there is a rating for lesbian or gay content what's wrong with that? Whose rights are violated by that?

What can one say about a thread like this?  But it is interesting that Jesus used the story of Sodom and Gomorrah to paint a picture of the future state of the world immediately prior to his return.  This thread is simply another sign that day is rapidly approaching.

Two men kissing is gross, but two women kissing isn't.  Hard to explain, most people think it's a double standard (and I used to), but then I realized it's just the way things are.

Actually alot of women 'get off' on the idea of two men kissing (among other things), they are just not as open about it, particular in the context of media as men are. But in the age of the internet on particular avenue of writing; 'slash' is very much a women's fame. If there was a 'family' movie with graphic violence and one shot of two men kissing I can guess which would receive the most complaints....

Yes, we've definitely become so uncivilized since the good old days when people were burned at the stake for having the wrong set of beliefs or because we thought that the person was a witch.

Yes, I think it is a no brainer that is all right for two people to kiss each other.  Why anyone would object, is beyond me. In fact, I seem to recall Timmy hugging his dog Lassie. Would it have mattered if Lassie was a boy dog?

Exactly - if two men kissing implies homosexual acts then Timmy and Lassie's tender moment must imply bestiality Grin

Through this line of thought any movies with religious content should be rated higher, because it could offend people like opebo.

opebo represents so small a segment of the population as to be insignifiant.  This is not true of the segment of the population who would be offended by two guys kissing.

Gee, while your at it, why don’t you blame Jesus for the Chicago Fire of 1871?

Don't you believe that Jesus is omnipotent?
