Croatia could win it all now and bring hope to small countries everywhere.

so Croatia is gonna get our curse now?

Since the World Cup has 32 national teams, there is a curse for the national teams which defeated Brazil

France 1998: eliminated in the 1st round in 2002
France 2006: eliminated in the 1st round in 2010
Germany 2014: eliminated in the 1st round in 2018
Belgium 2018: eliminated in the 1st round in 2022

Only Netherlands 2010 escaped this curse.

Would make sense since a lot of the players of the current Croatian team are old.

I was watching it at lunch today and my friends and I yelled at the screen whenever Brazil got a Goal

Dear God. I was rooting for Brazil, but they basically made no effort. Congrats to Croatia.

Until 2018, when Croatia didn't won medal (1998, 2018) this squad was eliminated in the 1st round

A team which is winning a game and concede a goal in the final minutes after a counter-strike doesn't deserve to win a World Cup

Stunning comeback by the Netherlands in the last 20 minutes to send it to extra time

As a result, our football is un-Dutch and completely unwatchable. Lazy, defensive, result-oriented football, only successful because of glimpses of the class De Jong and Gakpo have.
And today, they rely on loading the box with big men like you see in the Championship, and then pull an American cheese set piece at the death to go to extra time.

I mean, I have always been an advocate of bringing on big men late when chasing a result, but I've never seen a team so incapable of coping as Argentina have been. Paredes is kind of lucky to still be on the pitch.

If that happens, I will happily say "I told you so", given I picked that matchup back in June.

The scripted element will somewhat be taken out of it by the fact that Ronaldo would presumably (rightly) start on the bench, though.

He can still celebrate in full kit like John Terry.

Maybe another coaching masterclass from the sidelines like in the 2016 Euros final.

Journalist who’d been critical of Qatar for its treatment of migrant workers and was briefly detained at the beginning of the World Cup for wearing a gay pride shirt dies under mysterious circumstances (collapsed in the stadium during the Argentina-Netherlands match).

His brother in a Instagram reel said that he believes that Qatar killed him, which I believe.

I'm not saying he was murdered but considering the circumstances an investigation by a neutral third party (neither Qatar nor FIFA) is warranted.

Croatia already did that in 2018 until the French stole the game.
