The Braves win and the Mets lose, so the Braves are now 2.5 games back (the closest they've been since April 17).

Albert Almora helps out the Mets more as an ex-Met as he gets a walk off hit against the Braves and with the Mets winning get a game back in the lead at 3.5

It's over for Tony LaRussa his Sox can't beat the Division leaders Twins, Twins are gonna lose to the Astros in the playoffs but this was the series Sox were supposed to win, so long LaRussa, whom came out of retirement to lose with the Sox, the Sox don't have Paul Konerko

The Mets through the grace of all mighty god pull a last minute victory out in Cincinnati to avoid an embarrassing loss to the Reds and keep the East lead at 2.5

Shohei Ohtani will be the starting AL DH in the All-Star Game. Will Dusty Baker let him pitch too?

Bohm Bombs, baby! Wheeler had to bail the lineup out tonight tho. Need another bat w/how long Bryce and Jimmy Cigs are out, I think we should pull the trigger on trading for Benintendi. He can play CF too so it'd also mean shooting Doobs into the sun.

Do the Phillies even have someone (or multiple someones) in their farm system the Royals would be interested in?

We have 3 top-100 prospects. The last great bidding war we lost out on Machado to LAD 4 years ago because we didn’t want to give up Sixto Sanchez, at the time our best pitching prospect, for a rental who might not have re-signed (Sixto got moved in the Realmuto trade that offseason Kappa xD). We didn’t know what our rebuild would look like. 4 years later Benintendi obviously is a bit lower in terms of pedigree but we’re in win-now mode. We didn’t sign Schwarber and Cast this offseason to be a bubble team. If we could get out without giving up Apel that’d be ideal, but like again they went into this season expecting to contend. It’s been 11 years since they made playoffs. They need to make the moves for it.

I feel like for a team like Kansas City, you'd need to give up all three of those prospects just to get Benintendi.

Lmfao Benintendi's never hit over 20 dingers in a season and is career sub-.800 OPS+ nobody's moving that much for a guy without pop. Nobody's spooked by batting average anymore, .300+ batting and sub.400 OBP means pitchers give him stuff to hit. Here he'll get stuff to hit too because of the lineup around him. He has his value but KC might not even get a top-100 prospect in a one-for-one.

Apparently there's a very confused Brewers fan attending tonight's Yankees/Red Sox game.

We've got our first trade ahead of the trade deadline on July 31. The Tampa Bay Rays will acquire catcher Christian Bethancourt from from the Oakland Athletics from Triple-A Outfielder Cal Stevenson and Class-A RHP Christian Fernandez.

Cubs failed miserably to contain the Dodgers but the top two teams are the Dodgers and Astros anyways will likely meet in World Series

Dusty Baker may be very old-school, but even he understands that Shohei Ohtani is special and should be allowed to pitch and hit in the same game, especially the All-Star Game.

mystified by the implication here that the "old-school" thing would be to make the pitcher not hit

Dusty Baker hasn't win a World Series he was Manager of Bonds Giants that lost to Angels in 2002 and Sosa Cubs that failed against Marlins in 2003 and Reds Manager and Astros whom lost to Braves last yr

This is the same Dusty Baker whom coached the Sosa Cubs team, with Dodger pitching coach Mark Pryor, that didn't win the World Series to underdog Marlins and Marlins beat the Yankees

He is probably gonna play the Dodgers in the World Series but Munci and Barnes are weak and Bellinger that failed against Braves last yr he has a 50/50 chance to beat Dodgers this yr, Dodgers beat the weak Tampa Bay Rays to win in 2020 they lost to elite teams in World Series, Astros and Red Sox, I am no longer a Dodgers or Rams fan

Max Muncy is hitting 161 he is making all that money if the Dodgers fail to win the World Series they have no choice but to release him

Just like Brady can beat this yr the Rams since Rams lost Von Miller

I am no Dave Roberts fan anyone could of won a World series with dodgers talent against Tampa Bay Rays, he has yet to win one against an elite team and have a 50/50 chance against Astros, another problem Dodgers have they have Austin BARNES no back up catcher to Will Smith, they gave away Pollack  and Yasmani Grandel for nothing to the White Sox
