Rep. Jason Crow (D-Colorado) calls Trumps Supporters a "Domestic Terror Movement"
https://edition.cnn.com/2021/05/27/politics/jason-crow-january-6-cnntv/index.html

The Jan 6 Commission Vote in the Senate isn't about Trump, it's about his Supporters!

It's about some of his supporters who were encouraged by their orange buffoon to storm the capitol to prevent the electorate's will from being certified, which resulted in deadly attacks on the police (so much for "blue lives matter" and "pro law enforcement"), calls for executing high ranking officials including his VP and the severe destruction of public property. If that isn't the definition of "domestic terror", I dunno what is.

Well ... yeah? Trump didn't do all the planning and organizing himself, and he obviously didn't enter the Capitol.

I'm still a filibuster doomer but this is exactly the kind of thing that Manchin would have to say on the road to doing the thing:

Edit: And of course, he immediately followed it up by saying that getting rid of the filibuster would "destroy the government."

Getting rid of Fillibuster isn't destroying the govt, it should of been  done in 2009 on DC Statehood and Obama admitted he blundered, but whom was Veep in 2009 and 2013 that the Obama could of gotten rid of Fillibuster, Biden whom was against Filibuster reform even on Minimum wage until recently

If we broke the Filibuster in 2009 we could of pushed Immigration reform and DC Statehood, thus no R takeover in 2010 and 2014.

If we lose the H and the S, Biden can't push his agenda thru anyways

A deeply stupid man confirmed today that he’s very upset that but won’t allow this or anything to get in the way of self-righteous posturing

https://www.axios.com/manchin-filibuster-jan-6-commission-senate-3b46fd81-2d30-4446-992d-ce7d8a2c989c.html

Quote
Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) said Thursday he is not willing to abolish the legislative filibuster if Republicans block the creation of a bipartisan commission to investigate the deadly Jan. 6 Capitol riot, which they are set to do within hours.

Why it matters: Manchin — a crucial moderate swing vote — has blasted GOP leadership over the Jan. 6 commission and said "there is no excuse for any Republican to vote against" the bill. But his view has still not changed on eliminating or altering the filibuster, even if it prevents his party from passing key legislation.

What they're saying: "I'm not willing to destroy our government, no," Manchin said when asked if he would vote to end the filibuster if Republicans blocked the commission.

Yes Joe, our government is totally built on the idea of the liberum veto.

The Rs are self destructive anyways, since they have blocked the Commission they went from a tie to 10 pts down on Generic Ballot

Pelosi can have a Select Committee like Rs had on Benghazi but Manchin is Chicken little

They want to block HR 1 and DC Statehood too

At least "[he's] not ready" is better than an outright no, given that not being ready implies that he will be ready one day.

He literally equated it to destroying the government. That really doesn't sound like he's open to it to me. There is far too much Manchin apologism on Atlas.

Six votes presumably means:

1. Vote on Schumer Substitute Amendment, as amended, to China Bill.
2. Cloture on China Bill
3. Passage of China Bill
4. Commission vote
5. Hajjar Nomination to USPS
6. Lander Nomination

Sinema, Tester and Manchin are in cohoots in keeping the Filibuster, they're not gonna break Filibuster before July 4tH, but in the fall, when Congress must work together on Voting Rights, they might and the Rs have cost themselves already the lead on the ballot they went from a tie to 9 pts down, that's wave insurance

Since blocking Commission, and Rs have lost a tie, parents are still receiving stimulus checks, especially females due to child tax credit

They need Portman, Toomey, Sasse, Rubio, Ernst Daines, Murkowski, Collins, Burr, and Romney to secure voting rights

Rubio might as well, he is only 5 pts ahead of Alan Grayson, he is definitely more vulnerable than DeSantis and OH Ryan and Whaley can definitely win OH isn't a 9 state, put back Mahoning County for D's it's an R 4 state and IA and NC are vulnerable too. Or they will get the wrath of voters 56 seats secures DC and PR Statehood and Reparations and it's still 16 mnths til Election

Ron Johnson is DONE,. Yr before the Election

If the Senate cannot pass a bipartisan January 6 commission, then it has failed as an institution at the detriment of American democracy.

This is the simplest thing, and it's obviously needed.

There should be 100 votes in favor of it.

Yup, but the GOP has decided to play politics with it. They're not even meeting with the wife and mother of a police officer who died from a heart attack after the insurrection. They're cowards afraid of the truth coming out, especially before next year's midterm election. Regaining majorities to obstruct the Biden Admin is more important than finding out what happened on one of the darkest days in American history. It's a total embarrassment for ourselves and makes us look like a joke on the world stage.

Murkowski is a yes, surprising no one. I'm curious who else is there beyond the usual suspects like Romney and Collins.

Yes, I know, CNN does its best to be the Fox News of the Left (and may have even managed to have done even better than Fox News on that score at this point), but I am confused why McConnell so passionately opposes the Jan 6 commission idea. CNN speculates that the real reason is that he does not want McCarthy to have to reveal the contents of that infamous phone call with Trump. Why? I mean, McConnell really wants to emasculate Trump, and what better way to do it, than Trump being revealed to have told McCarthy that the invaders were just doing their patriotic duty or something, and had no intention of stopping them, or the like.

I don't get it. Or does McConnell think that such revelations will mean the Trump base will not show up at the polls in 2022, with their beloved leader "decapitated."

The old fossil is hopelessly confused. Can anyone help him with some of this?

Oh, the CNN link:

Some people are still getting Stimulus check Unemployment and Parents with kids, they will reward D's in 2022, this isn't 2010 when Rs campaigned on Obamacare, that's how wave insurence works

300 per child is great for females and there is talk about a 4th Stimulus checks. If Rs had their way, we wouldn't have gotten 1400 checks they were concerned about deficits

That's why Ds are up 10 on Generic ballot

A Mccarthy slide isn't inevitable and we don't even have the Redistricting maps out YET

Counting chickens
