Would you change it so that HW is President until 1997 and is succeeded by a Democrat who doesn’t sleep with interns???. This would butterfly away 1994, likely prevent W, make the path that led to Trump unthinkable and make a very different electoral map.

I would use time travel to go back 5-10 million years and make sure humans somehow go extinct.

Possibly by enabling some lions in Africa to kill the first settlers there.

Lions themselves didn’t exist yet but Dinofelis works.

If 1992 is the furthest back I could time-travel, yes. If I could go back even further, I’d change an earlier election.

Of course not. Why wouldn’t I just time travel to make Gore win?

If 1992 is the furthest back I could time-trave, yes. If I could go back even further, I’d change an earlier election.

I'd do the same and change '68 for Humphrey.

Now, now, I think that's a bit much, frankly. Hunter-gatherer tribes were (and in some places still are) wonderful. Let's make a deal and just kill anyone responsible for agriculture and permanent settlements to keep it that way, you in?

As for the titular question, if I were to alter any historical election I'd make Debs win in 1912.

I'd go back to the Palm Beach board of elections and make them design a good ballot in 2000.

That’d solve a lot too.

I'd do the same and change '68 for Humphrey by saving RFK's life. .

Nah, Reaganomics needed to be thrown to the gutter BAMN.

Now going back to 1856 to make sure Dred Scott can't happen and that Buchanan loses is a tempting prospect.

Humphrey winning in 1968, Ford winning in 1976, and Dukakis winning in 1988 would all be preferrable.

Yeah I would go back to 2000 to make sure Gore wins if only because my existence might be affected with history changing before 1996.

This would condemn anyone born after 1992 to non-existence.

2012 was when I seriously should have started to turn my life around and not fall into a spiral, so that takes priorities over politics.

Wouldn’t telling him to not repeal Glass-Steagall be a smarter move?

Even better idea: Tell him not to listen to anything Dick Morris, Mark Penn, or Rahm Emanuel say.

Any sort of retroactive time travel is unethical because you would essentially be genociding everyone who was born since 1992, which by this point is half the world's population, not to mention a majority of the forum.

Don’t forget about Larry Summers! Actually maybe it would be best if we all just forget about him...

I was born in 1994  and I’m pretty sure I still would have been born if Clinton wasn’t President.

The odds of the same sperm gamete that created you making it to the egg that created you given a massively dislocating event like changing the POTUS is vanishingly small.

Lol. Including myself(born in 1994). I was just putting out a thought experiments I got it from an article where 1994 doesn’t led to massive GOP victories and you butterfly away Trump. Clinton should have kept it in his pants.
