I don't see why my post was deleted. Rest in Power is used for persons who have been part of a struggle or faced injustice. That is definitely not Rush Limbaugh.

Look, I don’t agree with this man personally on...anything.
Much less do I think he did anything good with his platform....but...
For what it’s worth, let’s remember Limbaugh is still a human.
As a fellow human, I wish his family my sincerest prayers.
Of course this is a sad moment, let’s not mock those who we disagree with in death.

I have ashes on my forehead. I'm not going to use this day to speak ill of the dead, only to speak honestly of his legacy.

He was only a "pioneer" in making more Americans hate each other. To any of his fans here, I challenge them to name one thing he did that changed political discourse for the better, or made people smarter listening to him.

If you love Donald Trump, I can see why you would appreciate him for his signature "contribution" to journalism or political commentary: he made it acceptable to be a loud and proud asshole. Sure, he was far from the first, but I would argue he was most effective at the art of the smear than any of his predecessors. Beyond a doubt.

For good or for ill, many say he set the stage for today’s political climate.

He was an extremely harmful figure to our society and government. He never repented publicly for the lies and misinformation he spewed daily for decades that poisoned our body politic and contributed to hate. My own father was radicalized in part by Limbaugh, leading to a further disintegration of my family and alienation from my father who began labeling anyone who disagreed with Limbaugh and him as evil and enemies. For that, Limbaugh’s legacy needs to be held to account.

Nevertheless, he was a human being and subject to temptation and sin like the rest of us. So, I’ll still say Rest In Peace to him; I hope that if an afterlife exists that he sees the error of his ways and the evil of his actions and repents. May he find peace and his family consolation.
