Not really. Tanden will still get confirmed as long as Kamala shows up, the only problem being that the Senate will likely be forced to eat up days of floor time on her nomination too. Moreso bad news for the Senate than for her.
I think that Manchin will vote no on Tanden. Sinema may vote no as well.

No.

From the Buttigieg hearing:

‘I think you know how excited I am by your nomination’ in that tone his how Midwesterners say they hate you.
Is she having to read from her notes as she makes that speech?

To break a filibuster for a cabinet nomination you need 51, right? Mayorkas had Republican votes in the committee, so that shouldn't be a problem. I see no reason for his confirmation to go beyond this week.

Just a hunch. I could be wrong, we'll see.

I can't imagine any democrat has the stomach to torpedo one of Biden's nominees. Unless something really damaging comes out about Tanden(other than she's a twitter bully), she'll be confirmed.

So no new confirmation vote today? I know there are structural hurdles due to the lack of an OR (speaking of which, maybe get that done ASAP) but this still seems like they're slow-walking it.

It's the Republicans who are slow-walking it now, & there really isn't anything Schumer can do yet other than what he's already done: file a cloture motion, which gets voted on tomorrow & allows the final vote on the nomination to take place on Monday.

As for the OR, it turns out that it's still McConnell who's slow-walking that, as he's been unable to come to an agreement with Schumer in terms of floor amendment procedures (& until that's been passed, there are some nominees - like Becerra - who can't even have their hearings held yet).

This is insane. He can't possibly get away with holding it hostage for weeks on end.

Do we have any idea when they might vote on an organizing resolution?

That's a ridiculous take. Multiple important committees are unable to meet due to lacking chairs. We're not going two years without a Budget or HELP committee.

I wonder if McConnell's apparent defeat was really just him gambling on the prospect of the Democratic caucus losing a member prior to a filibuster "breaking point."

Should we assume that Haaland and Fudge will be the last to be confirmed to keep the House margin for as long as possible?
