We lost.
Just found out Lauren McDonald is a man, what's with southerners with feminine names?

When I was younger and first heard about this Senator named "Lindsey Graham" I just assumed it was a woman. It wasn't until years later that I saw him on TV or something and I was like "wait, it's a guy?" lol

So in the end of everything the black radical socialist anti-police anti-military anti-imperialist christian guy won with a better margin than the more moderate bland democrat guy? In Georgia?

Interesting. If it were the opposite people would be saying that it shows how going to the left is horrible in swing states. Yet the leftist guy had the better performance.

Fair enough, but they weren't running against the same candidate. It seems analysts default to complementing/criticizing Democrats without assigning Republicans equal responsibility for winning/losing their races. And I don't think they're substantively different on policy. Either way, they both performed quite well and complemented each others' strengths.

Speaking only for myself, my dislike of Loeffler made it easier for me to also vote for Ossoff / against Perdue, given both candidates on both sides essentially campaigned as a ticket.

What's the timetable for NockOff getting seated. 7-10 business days?

Certifying the results takes ca. 2 weeks in GA.

So, by the time Biden gets sworn in.

That’s also assuming Ossoff is also out of recount range.  He probably will be, but that is not asured.  Ossoff becomes the senior senator if he avoids a recount.

can we all appreciate the stupidity of Kemp appointing Loeffler for just a second?
Collins may well have lost anyway (he never struck me as a particularly strong candidate) but that was definitely an own goal.

Kemp owed a lot to those leeches, he had no choice.

Alot of that is exaggerated but it also helps when you opponent is more of a lunatic and republicans overreach on some of this stuff. As for losing both races in Georgia, I would say it's a big embarrassment for the republicans

Also helps when your opponent is what can only be described as Ann Coulter if she took ambien and did the Al Gore lockbox bit, replacing lockbox with "RaDiCaL LiBeRaL rApHaEl WaRnOcK"

Wonder what Carolyn Bourdeaux does after redistricting now?  LG or SOS 2022?  McBath probably has a seat after redistricting (going further than 9/5 looks exceptionally foolish now), but Bourdeaux definitely won’t.

I think a lot of people are wanting to read into a relatively small margin difference in the hopes of crafting narratives based on the Democratic candidates, when in reality, it's more based on the Republican candidates.

Perdue - from the margin performances we have seen - still had some suburban goodwill and basically was about as good of a GOP incumbent as could be hoped for given the electorate that showed up, while Loeffler was an unelected stiff stooge woman who nobody liked and who most couldn't even pronounce her name properly (not to mention that the track record in recent years for victory among appointed Senators facing their first election is abysmal compared to actual incumbents).

Winning these runoffs is really nice, but it still doesn't take away the fact that the 2020 election was still a disappointing event for down ballot Dems.

We failed to take the Senate [outright] even though we were favored, and we lost a ton of amazing people in the House.

Yeah the Republicans did quite a bit better than the polls and conventional wisdom suggested. Certainly better with many different groups of voters and across much of the country than I (and probably many of you) would've liked.

Imagine telling someone two years ago that Democrats would gain control of the Senate while suffering double-digit losses in the House and winning the presidential tipping point by less than 1 percent

Temporarily changing my avatar and screen name to commemorate Ossoff crossing 50.0% of the counted vote. I did actually live in Metro Atlanta for a year when I was very young, and can attest to a certain Asian presence in the northern suburbs back then.

He's in his 80s so I don't think Lauren was a women's name yet when he was born.

This, Seriously. The difference in margin is literally small enough to match the normal generic (discounting imbalances in candidate quality) incumbency advantage these days.
