Is it fair to say that in retrospect, the Presidency, Senate and House were all Tilt D?

Yeah, imagine telling someone the day before e-day that Democrats would only win 222/223 House seats but win the Senate

Imagine telling someone it would be because we won two simultaneous run-offs in Georgia a couple months after the election. Historically you could easily write such a race off as Safe R with no more information needed.

Imagine someone telling you it was possibly because of how much of a whiny b!tch and pathetic sore loser Trump was.

....actually that'd be pretty easy to predict.

You have to admit that Mark Kirk was a good guy. Easily the most liberal Republican Senator this decade.
This isn't relevant to the thread but Mark Kirk ran a racist campaign against Tammy Duckworth in the closing weeks. Not a "good guy" by any means even if he is better than most if not all of his Republican colleagues.

He had a stroke that completely messed up his brain. Mark was extremely sharp before that, winning reelection to his House seat by 6 points in the middle of a massive Democratic wave year as Obama carried it with 61%. That speaks volumes about how strong he was.

It speaks volumes that the Chicago Tribune actually endorsed Duckworth specifically because they did not believe Kirk had the wherewithal to remain an effective Senator.

Unfortunately, they were probably right. But calling him racist is inaccurate.

Why is everyone celebrating? The GOP are still well ahead
Or am I missing something?

Much like in the Presidential election, the vast majority of remaining votes to be counted are from heavily Democratic areas, way more than enough to flip the result.

Remaining votes are almost all from metro Atlanta.

There aren't any votes for that. Joe Biden will be able to appoint his cabinet, pass a massive COVID stimulus bill with income replacement, implement a 100-day lockdown to finally defeat COVID, forgive student loan debt, and appoint judges however if these results turn out in favor of the Democrats. The Democrats are beyond screwed in 2022 however and 2024 is a safe Republican year.
Biden isn’t for a 100 lockdown. Literally no one in the country wants that. Besides COVID has already peaked for the season and it’s expected to continue to go down from this point on (University of Washington model). Besides that would be electoral suicide because it’ll destroy the economy.

Biden wants a 100 days of masks, but hasn’t even committed to enforcing that. I don’t know why doomers love lockdowns and destroying people’s livilhoods but thank god Biden isn’t for it

People calling for another shutdown should go cry in the corner because they are in the minority

If Democrats don't pack the courts and make DC a state now then they deserve to lose their majority in 2 years.

How would/could we get DC statehood through a 50/50 senate? I'd love that, but do you really think Manchine would?
Changing the rules and ending the filibuster for statehood.

Any idea why Newton county swung heavy R despite so many seemingly simillar counties swinging D?

So basically at this point the only question is what the turnout was in Dekalb. If the vote dump comes in as strong as it is expected then these races are both over. Warnock should win no matter what even with anemic turnout in Dekalb, while a bad Dekalb dump would make the Ossoff-Perdue race a tossup. A good Dekalb dump obviously seals it for both Dems.

Is this more or less accurate?

I think we already know that turnout in DeKalb was higher than November

They apparently haven't counted any mail in ballots yet.

It's possible.  But there are a lot left in DeKalb.  Like enough for Ossoff to take the lead right there if his margin holds up.

McConnell in particular 100% deserved losing his Senate majority after blocking the 2k checks. F*** him..

Are you looking forward to having the most powerful Senator?

Doubly hilarious as Manchin and West Virginia in general faces a lot of criticism on Atlas..

Other counties of note they won’t talk about on CNN:  Clarke, Oconee, Paulding, Newton, Walton, Fayette, and the NWGA counties

Anyone want to post what % breakdowns are there?  I’d be forever grateful

Even if you don't feel confident enough to declare that Ossoff has won, which is reasonable, it would insane to suggest that Ossoff isn't the clear frontrunner (and Warnock too, but that race isn't worth talking about anymore).

Looks like Floyd mostly in. It's all down hill for Perdue and Loeffler now.

Ossoff did better with Black voters than he did in Nov

Ossoff 93%, Perdue 7%.

Ossoff is doing the same with White voters than he did in Nov.

Ossoff 29%, Perdue 71%.

A Dem sweep would likely mean Garland will be the Attorney General

If after all that it's Garland and not Yates (another Georgian) that'll be disappointing.

AG Doug Jones, please.
