Those are some strange tickets. Am I the only person who is sure that a  Rudy Guliani/George Allen ticket will never happen?

No you aren't, Rudy is too liberal on social issues to appeal to the religious right sufficiently to win the nomination. His rather public affair probably wouldn't help either.

I think Guiliani would be a pretty good President overall, though I would still prefer a Democrat.

Dobbs might actually have a chance if he ran for and won the Republican presidential nomination.

As an independent, no, he would not win, he would place third, but would attract a significant number of votes.

Of these three choices for President, I prefer Dobbs.

I'd vote for Dobbs if he had a realistic chance, though he probably wouldn't,  and thus I'd have to go for Clinton.

What I don't like about this scenario is the fact a Dobbs candidacy almost ensures Clinton the presidency. Something that she couldn't gain without help.

You certainly aren't a moron based on what I've seen from you on here.

I'm not a protectionist, but I do think that unrestricted free trade with countries that have far lower wages than ours causes American jobs to be lost to these countries, and this loss of good paying jobs in the USA hurts the economy more than we benefit from the slightly lower prices for the products.

That's not to mention the moral implications of unrestricted free trade with brutal dictatorships.

A lot of people beat Lou over the head with terms like "Protectionist" and "Isolastionist", when really that isn't his nature at all. Lou and I think a lot alike on the issue. Yes, free trade is an excellent thing, but not when our number one export is jobs.

Do you think Dobbs could win as an independent or swing an election? He could get at least as many votes as Ross Perot did.

If he was the Unity08 candidate, and had someone with political experience as his vp, I think he could potentially win (but it would definitely be a long shot), and in any scenario he'd swing the election.

No.  I think, even with his name recognition, he would pull less than 10%.

I think he can do better than 10. He has become a strong voice against illegal immigration and outsourcing which are going to be the big issues in 08'. I'll give him 20 if he runs.

The day he announces he is going to have 15-20 sheerly from the immigration issue.

Who would make a good VP for Dobbs? My suggestions Ben Nelson, Dick Lamm, or Aaron Russo.

One topic candidates don't normally do well on election day.  Dobbs also has going against him all of his public comments being a financial and political commentator.  He would be easy pickings from both sides.
