I think there are a clutch of Trump supporters with private reservations about him but still think he's selfless/gave up his wealth as an outsider. Knowing he's paid less tax in two years than they have on September's rent and that he's broke might actually be enough to break his hold on them. They might not be Biden voters now but they might not vote.

One good thing about the Biden campaign is that after a bombshell about Donald Trump, an ad is made in 3 hrs.

There was an ad about "losers and suckers" shortly made after that story and an ad about how he admitted on tape that I was gonna downplay the pandemic to Woodward.

Very little. We've been saying for years that the tax code is too complicated. Who wouldn't pay zero taxes if they could get away with it? I sure would.

Now, if Biden put forward a plan to drastically simplify the tax code in light of this, he could make it into a good talking point because the GOP tax cuts failed to do so (Trump's plan he ran on in 2016 was actually quite good, but of course Paul Ryan pushed the donor agenda instead).

Unfortunately, like every other scandal during Trump's presidency, it will not affect his approval ratings, nor will it affect the outcome of the race at this juncture. Trump's base, as one can see from here and elsewhere, have already settled upon their narrative for this: that the NYT report does not reveal anything which wasn't previously suspected or known; that Trump is "smart" and had "good attorneys" because he was able to evade paying his fair share; and that it is a "non-story" cooked up by a evil and duplicitous media out to do the bidding of Biden, the Democrats, and the Left. And just like with the recent revelations about Hunter Biden, no one is going to allow this to affect their vote, given that their opinions of Trump and of Biden are fixed at this point.
