If Bernard Sanders won
1. He was deprived a major prime time victory speech.

2. Every other candidate got to claim victory.

3. He lost a day of national headlines.

1. He was deprived a major prime time victory speech.

2. Every other candidate got to claim victory.

3. He lost a day of national headlines.

4. His direct concurrent Biden mitigated his losses, and lost a day of negative coverage.

And yes, they're wrong, but Bernie Bros will certainly complain about this and conspiracy theories go the world around.

Same applies for ButtiPete who exceeded expectations, and lost a day of national coverage.

Bernie Sanders will stop at nothing to destroy the Democratic Party, even if it means forcing the DNC to create a bad app to foil the efforts of Democratic front-runner Bernie Sanders.

Why not preempt the SOTU tonight with Bernie’s victory speech? No one would care

An embarrassing mess this caucus is and certainly a laughingstock on the world stage. However, I don't see this diminishing Democratic chances for November. Nobody will care about this in a few weeks, much less will anybody change their vote in favor of Trump.

But I'm so disappointed Uncle Joe is apparently doing that poor. I even don't excuse this as him being "a bad fit" for the state's primary. Even if Iowa Democratic voters don't reflect his core base, he has been campaigning really hard and it didn't pay off. It's disappointing for sure because he's a fine person and would make a great president, but if he's connecting that poorly despite having served as vice president of a very popular president, whom he's friends with, then I have to admit that winning this nomination isn't happening. Let's see how February plays out. If Bernie is the nominee, I will support him because Trump needs to go and won't screw up that big. If Uncle Joe doesn't make it long into the primary, however, I'm going all in for Mike Bloomberg at first and Mayor Pete at second.

Im gonna wait till SC to see if Biden is finished or not. I went back and looked back at threads from last time , and we all thought Trump was finished after Iowa as he nearly finished 3rd to Rubio. We all thought the nomination was gonna be Rubio vs Cruz then

Trump was still leading in all major states at the time, including February contests. His decisive New Hampshire win and Kasich as second gave Trump huge momentum. Also, the Democratic primaries are different from Republican ones. John McCain also survived fourth place in 2008. I don't think this happens this time. We will see how polls are going now, but I predict Joe Biden will drop and lose his RCP average lead soon.

Let’s hope NV and SC is his version of McCain NH and SC . Remember McCain did terrible in another of the first 4 primaries (NV).
I understand as a republican that you want a moderate, but i'm betting that people like you would not turn out if it's going to be a Bernie vs Trump election.

I also don't think Biden is favoured to win NV, especially since this is a caucus AGAIN, showing Bernie is doing well, and Warren and Pete and Steyer within striking distance. After today, the primary just got a bit more unsure. Bloomberg might be one of the other winners of today (but he'll alienate the left). We're more divided than we want to admit. Trump is a remarkably strong GE candidate.

What would you actually do in a Sanders vs Trump election. Abstain and vote downballot or vote Trump? Or would it depend?

The chair of Iowa's Dubuque County Democrats said he was "blown away" by the low turnout at the county's caucus Monday night.

"We were blown away by the fact that we did not have the turnout that we expected," said Steve Drahozal, chair of the Dubuque County Democrats, on the local NBC affiliate KWQC. "We had expected higher numbers."

KWQC correspondent Brian Tabick reported that just 217 people caucused at a local high school in Dubuque, an Iowa city with a population of approximately 57,000. Attendants, the correspondent said, "were expecting a much higher turnout" than they got.

Very low turnout in a big Obama-Trump area.

Sulu is correct.

The way things have been going for them, that would lead to the networks cutting away from Mr. Trump mere moments before he has a seizure on national tv.

Pete’s Comm Director just casually tweets out the login pin.

We should nullify the results for that reason...
Check the rounding on the sheet as well. He rounded 3.2 up to 4 delegates despite the directions asking them to do the opposite.

There were 70 participants, but only 61 after the realignment. The Bernie Bros may not have been willing to vote for Warren because they didn't believe a woman was electable.

If simple rounding does not add up, you round the largest fractions. In this case there were 8 delegates.

It is unlikely that the "Pin" was a PIN since it was printed on the worksheet. It is more likely an ID number for that precinct.

I dunno why Sanders supporters are upset. Your candidate apparantly won, and is on track to a big win in NH. Biden is probably done. You got your will.

**Proceeds to read 40 pages continually stating how this snafu was a gift to Biden, how little impact this makes on his candidacy and how he'll be in the clear come SC**

I believe Klobuchar won Guthrie County by votes, although the SDE count was a tie with Buttigieg.

Another sidebar, but Iowa's grid-like county layout has always been pretty visually pleasing.

Whoever laid out Texas' counties started doing that at the top, but then gave up and just started drawing random lines.

This seems like an incredibly risky play to make. If Biden ends up around 4th/5th in Iowa and then has another tough night in New Hampshire (another 4th/5th is not out of the picture), Nevada is not a done deal. As of now, 538 only has Biden ahead in state polling by 1% and two big losses in the previous states will not do him any favors. I still think Biden is the best chance at a moderate nominee, but it seems like a bad strategy to play up Biden's standings in Nevada vs. his likely crushing dominance in South Carolina and beyond.

NEW: Joe Biden's campaign tried to reassure donors on a conference call today that he will win Nevada and South Carolina after chaos ensued in Iowa. This comes as Biden is in need of campaign cash going into key states he believes he can win.
