So, Pete numbers accordingly to his campaign are, in percentage, 21.58 in the first alignment and 24.68 in the final one...pretty much in line with a second place finish, I think.

Turnout, again based on their numbers, seems a bit higher than 2016( 152k vs roughly 140k...2016 GOP was higher, though).

If we are to trust the data available it looks like we are not only going to have a slow ass count, we are going to have one of the scenarios warned about where the winners of the three various types of counting diverge because of tight results. However, the data available is biased to a variety of sources, so these arguments are circular at best.

"According to Dave Leip's Atlas of US Presidential Elections, Bernie will win due to Rust Belt freiwal, consequently, Tender Bredesen's support of Pete Buttigieg will damage chances of Biden to win due to woman of color in TX."

Watching CNN now, reporter on the ground read a statement from the IADP chair, who said that they app was correctly reporting data, but only recorded partial data. They still plan to release results "soon", but they are just making sure that everything is fully reported--no issues with the data itself.

I'm back.

Still the same blank map.

Any updates on when the IDP is going to release this stuff? It better be all at once or I swear...

See above--best we have is "soon" though it sounds like they're more partial to releasing it all at once or else we would have some results by now at least.

It seems the Sanders camp was wise after 2016 to demand the release of initial preference numbers as part of the caucus process.  It now gives him a chance to claim some sort of victory even if Buttigieg overtakes him in the final preference or state delegate equivalents.

I don’t think you can underestimate how much this just saved Biden’s ass and campaign.

The “stable front runner” just potentially left in 5th place, and would of received an utter onslaught of the most damaging media and social media coverage of his entire campaign yet.

From the NBC News liveblog... muahahahahaha:

Quote
Biden campaign raises ‘concerns’ about ‘integrity’ of Iowa caucuses

Kate Bedingfield, Biden's deputy campaign manager and communications director, said the campaign has "real concerns about the integrity of the process” Tuesday morning during an appearance on CNN.

"I think there were some significant failures in the process last night that should give voters concern," Bedingfield said, citing difficulty that many caucus chairs had reporting results through an app and phone calls.

"I think taken together those are significant concerns," Bedingfield said. "I think they should raise concerns for voters. And, you know, election integrity is obviously of the utmost importance and so we really want to make sure the Iowa Democratic Party addresses this before they put out official data."

The Iowa Democratic has said that their data was "sound" and the delay in the results was not due to a hack or intrusion, rather an abundance of caution to ensure accuracy. They plan to release the results sometime Tuesday.

When asked what reason she has to believe differently than what the Iowa Democratic Party has stated, Bedingfield said, "If you have a process where you can't be confident that the results that are being reported are reflective of the votes that people cast last night and the process, that's a real concern."

But if Biden doesn't win or come in a close second in New Hampshire, then he's in trouble.

I mean, Biden bombing is a good start for the Dems. The problem is that the story out of last night has nothing to do with the results (if any).

If Biden really is 5th, would this be the biggest flop for any national frontrunner? Especially considering he held his national lead from the start, unlike Giuliani, who collapsed late in 2007 before any vote was cast.

Anyway, it appears to be a dumpster fire for him. I almost regret endorsing him. At least CA hasn't voted yet.

I like the suggestion to just scrap these caucuses completely and schedule an Iowa Democratic primary on June 2, the last major day of primary season.
