I was actually hoping Justin Amash would be named an impeachment manager. The guy has been in favor of impeachment early on and is an attorney. Would have been nice to have the sole right-winger voting for impeachment on the team.

From what I've been reading, it appears that Pelosi wanted the all-star legal team here and Amash doesn't have nearly as much legal experience as the House members she selected.

Also I had no idea that MSN was even still a thing...

And per thehill:

Quote
The organizing resolution for President Trump’s impeachment trial will require that senators debate and vote on a motion to subpoena additional witnesses but not on a motion to dismiss articles of impeachment, say GOP senators who have viewed the resolution.

Random opinion: none of the Democratic Senators who are running for President should bother making themselves present for the impeachment hearings beyond up or down votes. We all know (and have always known) how this is going to end, so why take valuable time away from the campaign trail for what was always going to be a farce?

Yeah I keep hearing how it's a hard requirement, but I don't see how. It's just Senate rules. Worst that can happen is they're expelled from the Senate, which won't happen. Guess they've all committed to attending though.

CT's GOP Chairman just tweeted requesting that Rob Hyde end his bid for Connecticut's 5th Congressional District:

I can always assume that I'm outside of the firing zone when you slam Atlas blue, right? Tongue

Seriously though, I was skeptical (and, tbh, still kinda am) of Parnas' motives.  But it really does seem as though he's willing to tell his story.

I think there will probably be witnesses but very few that the Democrats wanted while a lot of them will just be for Republican comfort like Hunter Biden, the whistleblower, etc.

Doubtful.

What happened to those four GOP senators planning on allowing witnesses testify?

We are now entering the beginning of a sham proceeding in which Trump will ultimately be acquitted, as we all knew the outcome would be from the start. And this should be good indication of where Susan Collins is headed: https://twitter.com/mkraju/status/1217535138151780353. She's throwing "cold water" on the new evidence that has surfaced, and is playing the same games which she played with Kavanaugh.

Via CNN ...

Quote
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell just outlined how the impeachment process will progress tomorrow.

The House managers just delivered the articles of impeachment to the Senate, but the Senate is not yet officially receiving them. That will happen tomorrow.

Here's how McConnell laid out the schedule for tomorrow:

Noon ET: The Senate has invited the House manager to come to the Senate and present the articles of impeachment.
2 p.m. ET: Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts will arrive in the Senate and be sworn in. (Remember: Roberts will preside over the entire trial.)
After that: The senators — who will serve as jurors at the trial — will be sworn in.

We're not expecting the trial itself to kick off until next Tuesday.

Trump in 2014 saying what being impeached would do to Obama:
"He would be a mess. He would be thinking about nothing but. It would be a horror show for him. It would be an absolute embarrassment. It would go down on his record permanently."
