No, I have a few that are conservative, most are independent and could go either way and I also have a few that are kinda crazy socialist liberals. (I don't discuss politics with those) Smiley

No.  I don't even knows where most of my friends stand.

I couldn't personally get along with someone who drinks and goes to strip clubs.

I am the same way. You should hear her complaints with drug use, drinking, etc. It would be funny to see how she'd handle BRTD and Flyers.

From what you're telling me, probably not good.  So I take it she's more populist than I?  I would not get along with a lot of liberal women in a relationship.  Even if she may be pro-choice, it is very likely she would detest my other behaviors such as drinking, occassional smoking (cigs and the green stuff).  A pro-choice woman does not mean a sexually permiscuous one either, but then again I've passed on opportunites because I didn't click with the person either.  One thing that may surprise you Phil is I would wait a while before I'd have sex with someone after meeting them.  It may also surprise you I personally detest one night stands, but don't mind others that have them.

She really wouldn't be able to stand you. I'd just love to see her reaction though. And I wouldn't say that being opposed to one night stands but having sex on maybe the second or third date is really a strong value, Flyers.

I'm going to guess she's pro-choice and pro-gay marriage but hates people who drink, do drugs and are sex-crazed. Right?

Pretty much.

I'm sure all the conservatives saying no would get along perfectly fine with anyone wearing a Che shirt.

Speed of Sound has said he's a socialist, and I like to think of him as a friend.

EDIT: I also have a friend off the forum who would be a green party supporter, but she supports the Democrats for the same reason my parents support the GOP but would be Libertarian if they could actually win and not just take votes from the Republican.

I would say at least a month for me personally.  Then again some women my age are far more willing earlier in a relationship and hell they WANT it or they'd lose interest themselves rather quickly.  Hell, I was at a party once with a girl I was not really interested in and her hand was on my crotch after knowing her for only 15 minutes.  I know if I pursued it I could have had her, but she was a major head case, I would have probably got attached, so I figured I'd end it.  My biggest issue with dating is I want what I can't have and what wants me, I know I should avoid or I'm simply not interested.  The thing is I'm not looking for the Olsen twins or Laetita Casta either.

A lot of people think I'm a Democrat for some reason, maybe it's the partying and lack of church attendance. In any case no, politics is a non-issue. Granted, I wouldn't be friends with a complete loser like, you know, jfern or something, but that's not particular to one brand of politics.

It's funny because I'm so much more tolerant than all the left-wingers that rant on and on about gays and minorities and this and that.

Note that if someone is wearing a Che shirt, it almost certainly means he or she is a complete douchebag, so it's not really politics that is the problem... their obvious stupidity and immaturity is the problem.
In Germany they're selling tshirts with Che`s likeness and the slogans "Last Hetero" or "Just kill all hippies". What would you think of someone wearing a tshirt like that.

I would dare say that most (though not a large majority) of my friends are or were fairly Liberal at one point.

Well that's fine, because it's attacking the lefties that idolize some dead dumb guerilla.

The Che look is just so old and so empty.

I know exactly one kid who I've ever seen where a Che shirt and he's a pretty cool guy. You really must have a problem if you determine friendship by political views.

To answer the question, no, I'm not four years old. My core group of friends are fairly religious, ideologically conservative, etc. Once you start branching out, you get heavy drinkers/partyers, apolitical types, anti-Bush extreme lefties, and a wierd far right-wing atheist. Restricting yourself to only people you agree with has to get pretty old fast.

to answer the question of the poll:
No, but most of my friends share reasonably similar views. Although, of my closest friends, only 3 are really politically aware, although 1 other has an amazing awareness of general society.

The "Last Hetero" one is a bit more complicated ... can't really by said to attack anyone. Just so many folds of irony and meta-irony that you sorta lose track.
See if I can find a likeness on the net...

When I was a College Republican at the University of Washington (my first year), I had a very close friendship with a woman about four years older than me who was amongst the most liberal women on campus.  As I recall, she had considered joining the Green Party, and had advocated on behalf of Dennis Kucinich during the 2004 Washington state caucus.

So, obviously, no.

I used to maintain a token Democrat friend just for appearances, but haven't talked to him in years.

No.  It's utterly ridiculous to be so caught up in your political views that they would effect your social life to that degree.

I used to maintain a token Democrat friend just for appearances, but haven't talked to him in years.

I sincerely hope that was in jest, and not a serious comment.

Well it really wasn't "for appearances", (why would I want anyone to know I had a Democrat friend?) but he was my token Democrat friend. Tongue

Well I pretty much have to make a special effort to have a Democrat friend, as I rarely see Democrats and don't hang out where they congregate.
