Sorry but she would absolutley despise someone like you. You two would not get along. While she is a social liberal, she would hate your obsession with drinking and strippers. It's weird because she has no personal tolerance for things that liberals usually defend to the death. Her social liberalism isn't as strong as her economic stances.
Hmm, that sounds exactly like my significant other. I guess that's why we get along. Tongue

I couldn't personally get along with someone who drinks, has engaged in irresponsible sex, and constantly obsesses over strip clubs. I would always wonder if he's cheating on me, which would suck.

And I thought you were asexual.
What, jealous that someone who doesn't screw around can have a nicer, more stable relationship than you? Why don't you grow up and learn more about the world around you? What dumbass told you that people who don't engage in irresponsible sex can't have stable, loving relationships?

Stable relationships are the best, good on you!

Do you engage in sex at all?  What would be responsible?  A handjob?
Why do you care?

I'm fascinated!  And also terribly worried about this poor 'significant other'.

Fair enough, I can respect that, however I wasn't the one that brought it up, she was.

What's crazy about asking if handjobs are 'responsible'?  I mean I find it hard to see how they wouldn't be - you can't get pregnant or pass STDs that way.

And what about frottage?

I won't bother explaining to you because you have no knowledge of "love". Therefore, any attempts at explaining how a relationship/friendship founded entirely upon that would be futile. At any rate, you would do well to stop bothering me about my sex life; I don't care about yours, so you have no business caring or feigning concern about mine, especially when I am clearly happier than you are. Since you dislike it so much when people criticise your personal life, put yourself in my shoes and figure out how much I dislike it when you complain about mine.

And how did a topic about having friends who aren't politically similar to you turn into a topic about my sex life? Seriously, you people have no lives.

...Or no sex lives, at least.

Ahem, back on topic.

Litmus tests? No.

But of course political beliefs enter into relationships with people.

I started using political litmus tests last year for determining friends.

I'm sure all the conservatives saying no would get along perfectly fine with anyone wearing a Che shirt.

Here's the thing.  So long as your not a total right wing lube job, I could actually get along with you or even date a woman who is right of center.  Hell, I thought a Pat Toomey supporter was cute and wanted to hookup with her.  She was really cute and I would have loved the challenge.

I dont us a test, but it is usually better to find friends with differing political views(not hard for me).  This way you always have something to talk about, and if they are intellegent you are better prepared to rebuttle statements by other people in their party.

Yes.  The test goes as follows:

1. Do your politics obligate you to hate or wish death upon giant chunks of the population?
2. Are you rabidly political enough such that you would hate anyone who disagreed with you?

If the answer is "no" to both questions, then they pass the test.  I really don't care what their politics are as long as neither of the above are true.

Not at all...

Of my good friends, I know two are Republicans, two are slightly-Republican-leaning moderates, and the rest are Democrats, who far outnumber the Republicans.  Heck, I have a good friend who is, quite literally, a pinko hippie commie.  I might disagree with them on politics--but, with two exceptions, I rarely if ever talk to any of them about it.  And if I do, most of them are intelligent enough such that it doesn't lapse into tendentiousness.

I have about two to three friends who are Republicans and one Libertarian.

Otherwise, the rest of my friends make jfern look like a centrist.

So if a friend turned you red, you'd know he's an acid who would eat away at your life, and if he turned you blue, he'd do the opposite? Tongue

A lot of people think I'm a Democrat for some reason, maybe it's the partying and lack of church attendance. In any case no, politics is a non-issue. Granted, I wouldn't be friends with a complete loser like, you know, jfern or something, but that's not particular to one brand of politics.

It's funny because I'm so much more tolerant than all the left-wingers that rant on and on about gays and minorities and this and that.

Note that if someone is wearing a Che shirt, it almost certainly means he or she is a complete douchebag, so it's not really politics that is the problem... their obvious stupidity and immaturity is the problem.

Sometimes...  I have no socialist friends, nor do I desire any, nor will I look out to make friends with homeless unemployed morons.  Most people around me turn bluer as I talk to them.  My roommates all used to be NDP/Liberal, now they're all Conservative/Freedom Party.  There are some friends that resist changing, but even they have changed a little, perhaps from NDP to NDP-Liberal.  In time, they too will see the light.

You should talk to American states so they too will be turned blue. Smiley

No.  I have friends who are Republicans, and we appropriately do not discuss politics except for friendly jabbing.
