No. Most are conservative but I have a few moderate to liberal friends. My girlfriend is a liberal and actually considers herself to be a socialist (I think that's pushing it though). I'd say that I'm the most conservative in the group though. You wouldn't have as much fun if everyone was the same.

Not really.  Most of my friends are Republicans, unfortunately.

Hell no.  This forum is pretty much the only place where I discuss politics anyway.

No.  I have some friends who are very liberal.

Political beliefs are a part of who we are, but only a part.  I would never decline to befriend a person that I would otherwise like for political reasons.

On the other hand, I would probably be less likely to like a person who was abrasively and aggressively liberal.  But that's not a litmus test.

Not at all.  See my story on "If I am forced to admit one thing."  Then again the friend I was referring to is nowhere near Limbaugh.  Just curious was this thread inspired by that one?

Heck no. If I did that I wouldn't have a lot of the friends I do. Plus, there were some people who I didn't find out about until later.

Not at all. My boyfriend considers himself a Socialist and I see myself as a Moderate libertarian yet we get on swimmingly Smiley I don't really determine my friends by their political beliefs, though it is good to have debates in the pub at weekends!

Is she like me then?

And for the most part, yes. I don't have any friends who are Republican or Bush supporters.

Sorry but she would absolutley despise someone like you. You two would not get along. While she is a social liberal, she would hate your obsession with drinking and strippers. It's weird because she has no personal tolerance for things that liberals usually defend to the death. Her social liberalism isn't as strong as her economic stances.

Hmm, that sounds exactly like my significant other. I guess that's why we get along. Tongue

I couldn't personally get along with someone who drinks, has engaged in irresponsible sex, and constantly obsesses over strip clubs. I would always wonder if he's cheating on me, which would suck.

I am the same way. You should hear her complaints with drug use, drinking, etc. It would be funny to see how she'd handle BRTD and Flyers.

Yeah, obviously, I try not to be friends with Nazis, Communists, and Facists Wink.

But ignoring the obvious Tongue, I don't care about my friends' politics.

Something that most people miss when I say I don't have conservative friends is it would be pretty difficult for me to find conservative friends even if I wanted to. The places I hang out aren't exactly bastions of conservatism. One of my favorite bars actually has an anti-Bush poster on the wall.

I guess this 'significant other' has the blueballs.

Of course all my falang aquaintances over here in Thailand are liberals, whether American liberals or just generic Europeans.  Also, the girls all hate the cops and authority in general - can you blame them?

From what you're telling me, probably not good.  So I take it she's more populist than I?  I would not get along with a lot of liberal women in a relationship.  Even if she may be pro-choice, it is very likely she would detest my other behaviors such as drinking, occassional smoking (cigs and the green stuff).  A pro-choice woman does not mean a sexually permiscuous one either, but then again I've passed on opportunites because I didn't click with the person either.  One thing that may surprise you Phil is I would wait a while before I'd have sex with someone after meeting them.  It may also surprise you I personally detest one night stands, but don't mind others that have them.

I'm going to guess she's pro-choice and pro-gay marriage but hates people who drink, do drugs and are sex-crazed. Right?

What, jealous that someone who doesn't screw around can have a nicer, more stable relationship than you? Why don't you grow up and learn more about the world around you? What dumbass told you that people who don't engage in irresponsible sex can't have stable, loving relationships?

Do you engage in sex at all?  What would be responsible?  A handjob?
