Whitmer is a proven leader who could seamlessly step into the presidency if needed

“Whitmer brings her skills as a governor and public official who has unfailingly seen from the get-go what her state needs in this, its most critical hour, and with laser-like precision has gone after it. With her leadership skills, she has also shown herself prepared to do so for the nation as well.” — David A. Andelman, CNN

This is the winning message for 2020 Biden should double down on. It is isn't an identity type of election year.

So could a host of other women. But if it’s not a Midwestern white woman it’s an identity pick? Oh.

Whitmer *just* got elected in 2018. Again, it would look pretty horrible for her if she ditched the state that just elected her for her first term two years ago.

CCM non-denial: "I'm not thinking about that":

https://www.reviewjournal.com/news/politics-and-government/cortez-masto-could-boost-biden-candidacy-2015322/

Quote
“I’m not thinking about that,” Cortez Masto responded when asked about the speculation in a telephone interview with the Review-Journal.

“Right now, the focus is right here in Nevada,” Cortez Masto said of her priority to help the state recover from the public health and economic impact of the coronavirus outbreak.

I think the fact CCM doesn't speak Spanish just takes away whatever benefit she'd supposedly provide with Latino voters. I think a Hispanic VP would have an impact if they could go on Telemundo/Univision and be visible & also hold Spanish only rallies in Hialeah/Miami. CCM being only fluent in English just can't do that.

Cortez Masto could be the perfect pick really.   Fresh new face and helps with winning Nevada.   I really think Biden should strongly consider her.

The fact that she called on Franken to resign left a bad taste in the mouths of many Dem voters.  Also, she did very poorly in the presidential primary.

The Baldwin poll just showed Biden/Warren tied with Trump, in Tilt R OH. BIDEN is gonna select Warren, and Joe Kennedy and Pressley can be in the Senate simultaneously.

If  Biden is competetive in OH, the election is lost for Trump,.

That's a damning indictment of the Democratic primary voters.

Probably seen as too similar to Hillary, blonde Senator from NY who literally replaced her in the Senate and has flip-flopped in the jump from House to Senate. Not fair, but probably the reality of why.

Though maybe she is in the mix, and it just hasn't leaked yet because of the lack of speculation for the Hillary reason.

Yup, I'm warming up to the idea. She definitely appears to be a strong pick. We just don't know how she would perform on the national stage and campaign trail. For sure, I doubt she's doing harm, but can she rally large crowds? Would definitely be a plus on her. I think Kamala Harris is just the perfect match for Biden, but in case she isn't picked, CCM or Demings are good choices. Same with Duckworth, but looks like she's not interested at all.

I hope he doesn't pick Abrams (lack of experience), Whitmer (could backfire in MI to take the VP slot amidst a health crisis when she has just been elected gov), Baldwin (risks senate seat) or Klobuchar (too much like Biden himself, potential baggage with staff issues). Warren would be great, too, but I feel it might be a risk despite the chance for high reward.

I think what damaged her more is that she seemed too eager to throw a fellow Democrat under the bus for personal political gain. It played right into the Tracy Flick caricature her "friends" and enemies paint all these years.

Not true, Ayanna Pressley is said to be gearing up to run for Senate in 2021, if that's the case, its assumed Warren is gonna be Veep by then. Dems dont have to worry about a special due to fact 12 vulnerable Rs are enough to gove Dems more than 50 seats. Dems are looking at SC, MT and NC to solidify the Majority

Why do people keep posting polls here? These are clearly all just name recognition, and/or in this case Ohioans' well-known hatred of anything Michigan Wink

Probably mostly, but it is interesting that Klobuchar should have even more name recognition than Harris, especially since Klob is from the midwest, and Klob does not do that well here.

For flimsy demographic reasons, Harris has emerged from the "safe state senator who made an outrageous attack against Biden in a debate" lane, not Gillibrand.

She didn't say she wouldn't accept it, she just said she won't campaign for it. It's nothing but the typical denial.
