How can vitamin A deficiency be widespread anywhere?

The amount of vitamin A one needs is minuscule. Like one single cup of kale is enough. Or just four baby carrots, which has a total of less than 20 calories.

This! This is what I wanted in 2016. This is why I wanted a conservative President! Y'all can complain all you want, but I love it! I've always hated international law. I hate the UN. I hate how sensitive we are -- as if foreign monuments matter more than American lives? If Trump sends those 52 sites to high heaven, I'll cheer him all the way along: I can't wait to vote for him in 2020!!!

Oh wow, sure glad for that ignore button rn!

According to NYT, Iranian retaliation will be "direct" (not through proxies) and "proportional" and "open" (openly carried out by Iran).

Of course, if I were Iran, that would probably be the sort of thing I would want to feed disinformation to US media about, so who knows.

https://www.nytimes.com/2020/01/06/world/middleeast/iran-khamenei-general-soleimani.html

Quote
In the tense hours following the American killing of a top Iranian military commander, the country’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, made a rare appearance at a meeting of the government’s National Security Council to lay down the parameters for any retaliation. It must be a direct and proportional attack on American interests, he said, openly carried out by Iranian forces themselves, three Iranians familiar with the meeting said Monday.

It was a startling departure for the Iranian leadership. Since the establishment of the Islamic Republic in 1979, Tehran had almost always cloaked its attacks behind the actions of proxies it had cultivated around the region. But in the fury generated by the killing of the military commander, Maj. Gen. Qassim Suleimani, a close ally and personal friend of the supreme leader, the ayatollah was willing to cast aside those traditional cautions.

How we do kill Khamenei? Heard napalm is pretty painful.

If he does better in terms of margin, it probably won’t be by more than 5%. I think he could even do slightly worse than in 2016 (say, a 15-point win or so).

This reminds me of the irony of being told in 2016 that I was pro-war if I didn't support Trump because "HiLlArY iS gOiNg 2 sTaRt WwIiI wItH rUsSiA!1!1!"
Hillary is more hawkish than Trump is easily.

As a Florida resident, Gillum by far. I recognize the importance of the senate in federal politics, but DeSantis is a madman.

Great result for Bernie. Also very nice for progressives to have Warren 2nd (maybe she is not quite dead yet). Biden 4th is really bad for him, and if Buttigieg can't win IA, he is not going to win anywhere.

MissScarlett will be sad, I guess Klobuchar is done. No Klobmentum.

Not really concerned to be honest because all her vote is in rural counties. You need 15% in a precinct to qualify or your votes get scattered and not every candidate is going to break the threshold. It will be scattered but hey she was the first democrat I'd ever vote for so maybe thats her problem. If the democrats want to continue the division then fine!

Pete has spent 25m to finish 3rd is bad. Look democrats have a choice vote for a moderate that gets stuff done or you get Trump. Really simple.

Whats sad is the democratic party would reject Kirsten Sinema, Elissa Slotkin, Sherrod Brown so the fool is the party electorate. Socialism will never be allowed in America and you kids can sit on twitter all day long. You will never get medicare for all and you will never get free college. NEVER

Are you okay?

I'm telling you the truth because I'm an adult. The people who are older than 40 that would never vote for a Socialist?

I just vote for Trump. Really simple.

These people will eventually die, so you can't say NEVER, America will still exist long after the boomers are dead.

And the young people living in their basements supporting Bernie will get married, have kids and grow up. Its called life. As you get older you become more conservative. Its called responsibility.

They won't get anything close to the comfortable middle class lifestyle their parents had and they'll still be underpaid, in debt and angry, so no they won't. Many of them also won't have enough money to start a family.

Yes they will. People say this all the time. Its called the cycle of life. People get massive inheritance money compared to what they got 20 years ago. I know someone who bought a house for $30,000 and it sold for $2.3m. You start low and flip homes to get up to a million dollars and life is fine.

I’m glad everyone can flip $30,000 shacks

Even a lot of her "good takes" on things like foreign policy she gets to for the wrong reasons--it's always about "American casualties" and never really about actual damage caused to non-Americans.
This is a good point. She comes across as a paleocon isolationist. It's probably why some right-wingers adore her, while thinking people like Omar are anti-American, despite having similar views (of course, there are probably other factors at play...)

We think Omar is anti-American because she is anti-American
that's a good thing

Y'all should rename this thread after MissScarlett, who is the actual real-live version of the caricature GeneralMacArthur you pretend exists.

Correct, it is important to preserve your religion. Christians would be wise to implement similarly strong views against leaving Christianity. (I don't mean not going to church, I mean converting to another faith)

The vast majority of Muslims dont use a medieval interperation of their religion so they wouldnt be affected by what Im proposing, only the ones who do would.

In fact I would support banning people in general from high-risk nations who have a medieval interperation of their religion(Any religion) from immigrating here period.

It depends, no matter what happens, he has no viable path to the nomination unless he can significantly expand his appeal beyond his current support base and get his supporters to stop going out of their way to antagonize suburban Democrats just for the lolz.

No, the reason why we don't have a public option/universal health care/whatever/etc is not that Dems lost an election in Kentucky.

It is that the American electoral system and particularly the U.S. Senate is unrepresentative and broken institutionally, so that the public option/whatever couldn't be passed even when there were Senators elected representing an overwhelming share of the population supporting it.

You are unlikely to fix that or many other problems until you fix that underlying failure of the system of government - see this thread - https://uselectionatlas.org/FORUM/index.php?topic=354038.0

Well that's some wonderful insight but not particularly helpful in the short term.  Saying we can't get better health care until we completely change our electoral system feels like, with all due respect, a lazy cop-out.

And btw, LMAO at the idea of Dems winning in KY, you are delusional beyond parody.

They lost by 6%.  Also Jim Bunning won by 1% in 2004 and 0.5% in 1998, and a Dem held the seat prior to that.  It's not that crazy.

"Medieval" is a convenient term of abuse to use for discussions of this but I'm honor-bound to point out that in many parts of the world Islam is significantly more receptive to religious violence today than it was in the Middle Ages.

If Trump had killed Osama bin Laden, the socialist left would be demanding Warren make a statement sympathetic to al-Qaeda and point out that UBL was reality right all along because muh blowback.

I'm sorry, but 'The Surf Zombies' and 'Eggs On Mars' don't really pique my interest.
