Turn 7
March 2nd to March 12th

In the News!

Mike Pence Becomes Presumptive Nominee
Kasich left the field saying that the Republican party has abandoned morals and after pressure from the white house, Pawlenty leaves. Pence was able to unite much of the Republican party before Super Tuesday but he does have a rebellion within the GOP among former Kasich supporters which is being led by former Senator Gorden Humphrey and Jeff Weaver

The fight for the South
With the frontrunners in the south, Doug Jones and Michelle Obama, both out of the race. Super Tuesday created a fight for the south. Joe Biden was able to come away with the victory after strong African-American support but both Brown and Castro put up a good fight with Gillibrand and Jeter being non-factors

Brokerd Convection?
With the Democratic in a three way tie between Biden, Brown and Gillibrand with strong competion from Castro and Jeter, many predict the party is headed towards a contested convection. FiveThirtyEight moved their prediction of a Brokerd Convection after Super Tuesday up from 21.5% to 43.7%.

Moderator's notes: This turn will last until Tuesday night, at 8:59:59 PM Eastern Time. Make sure to PM me ASAP if you need an extension, preferably after you read this sentence. Extensions will be given for the requester and the requester only, not for the field at large, so if you need an extension, PM me.

Messaging is key! This turn will be all about setting up your ground game and building your coalition, so make sure to write your speeches/schedule accordingly! Speaking of which...

A schedule is required. You can post 20 speeches or no speeches, but what is required for you to post is your schedule. It doesn't have to be detailed, just give me a short description of each day's (or week's) events.

Advertisements: if you poll more than 15% nationally, you may run three advertisements. If you poll between 10% and 15%, you may run two advertisements, and if you poll below 10% but above 5%, then you can run one advertisement!

I think that at the beginning of every turn there should be a list of the endorsements for every candidate in order to make sure there won’t be any confusion. What do you think of this, terp40hitch?

Derek Jeter ad called “Acting Now”
Narrator:When 58 people were gunned down in Las Vegas President Trump did nothing

When 26 churchgoers were gunned down in Sutherland Springs Texas President Trump did nothing

When 17 kids were gunned down President Trump did nothing

When 10 kids were gunned down in Santa Fe Texas President Trump did nothing

When 5 journals were killed at the Capital Gazette headquarters President Trump you guess it did nothing!

The reason? Cause he is and bought and sold for by the NRA.
And Mike Pence won’t be any better.

But Derek Jeter can As President he will take on the NRA

He will fight for universal background checks,he will fight for a magazine limit,He will fight to get the NRA’s money in Congress and most important for your safety!

Jeter will fight for senablie gun laws and a safer society

Kirsten Gillibrand Rolls Out Endorsements Before Primaries

Gretchen Whitmer Endorses Kirsten Gillibrand in Lansing

“Two years ago, I had the honor of a mentor endorsing my candidacy for governor. Now, she’s running for President and the least we can do in Michigan is to return the favor and get out to vote for Kirsten Gillibrand! Kirsten has pushed for equal access to healthcare, aggressive bills to fight poverty with rural broadband and postal banking, and for all of us to have a fair shot in this country without our race, gender, or sexuality being discriminated against. I’m very excited to campaign for her from now until November.”

Mitch Landrieu Holds Rally in New Orleans, Endorsing Kirsten Gillibrand

“Looks like my sister made the news again. Now, that’s not what I’m here to talk about. I’m here to endorse the best damn candidate for President that Democrats have ever ran. Kirsten Gillibrand has something Presidential about her, maybe it’s her fight to equality, whether it be racial, gender, or sexuality based, maybe it’s her record of leadership in the Senate, or maybe it’s her plan, which is detailed, smart, and well put together. Wouldn’t it be nice to have a President who won’t embarrass us? Wouldn’t it be nice to have someone who will tirelessly fight for all of us? I think so, and Kirsten is the best shot.”

Amy Klobuchar makes stops in Kansas and rural Michigan, with a focus on postal banking and rural development of broadband. Cory Booker crosses Mississippi, highlighting Gillibrand’s criminal justice reform plan, alongside postal banking. Janet Mills and Elizabeth Warren campaign in Maine, focusing on Gillibrand’s fight for fair trade and Medicare for All.

Gillibrand Campaign Runs Ad “Going Postal” Nationwide

“Imagine if going to the bank was as easy as going to the post office.”

“For many Americans, a public banking option would be a dream come true. It would give communities a choice, rather than relying on the multi-billion dollar industry of predatory payday loans.”

“As a country, we decided that these practices weren’t good enough for our service members, but we still allow them to prey on communities with no real banking choices. This must end.”

“My postal banking bill puts the power back in the hands of the people, and away from lenders and big banks. It would make the post office a place for opening a savings account, taking out small loans, and being a local bank in areas without one.”

“I’m Kirsten Gillibrand and I approve this message.”

Mike Pence's campaign schedule - March 2-March 12 2020

March 2-7 :
-Vice-Presidential duties in Washington D.C.

March 8 :
-Campaign in Denver, Colorado
-Rally with voters at Bronco Stadium in Denver, Colorado :

So, it seems that the likelyhood of a brokered Democratic National Convention next summer has drastically increased after Super Tuesday. The Democrats are clearly in a mess. It shows how much they have nothing to propose, how much they want to divide the country through higher job-killing taxes, bigger government, stricter gun control that will do nothing but restricting America's God-given rights and deeper cuts in defense spending that will make America an easier target for radical Islamic terrorism. But fortunately, we Republicans are united and that is the reason why we will keep America together and will keep moving America forward and defending our freedom thanks to tax reform for the sake of a strong economy, defense of the Constitution and a strong military for the sake of victory against terrorism. Only together, we can overcome our challenges. Thank you. God bless you and God bless America.

March 9 :
-Meet with voters in Columbus, Ohio with Mitch McConnell
-Economic policy speech in Columbus, Ohio with Mitch McConnell
-Fundraising event in Columbus, Ohio with Mitch McConnell
-Meet with voters in Cleveland, Ohio with Mitch McConnell
-Meet with voters in Akron, Ohio with Mitch McConnell
-Energy policy speech given by Mitch McConnell in Akron, Ohio :

You know, my home state of Kentucky is one of the largest coal producers in America. And due to its abundance of oil and coal resources, the neighboring state of Ohio has a big potential of playing a major role in the process of getting America to energy independence. So we understand the concerns of local hardworking families who are worrying about the potential of a second War on Coal that would cost their jobs and their wages. Coal is a very crucial source of energy to our quest for energy independence. But sadly, all of the Democratic presidential candidates running in the actual election want to gut our energy industry and start a new War on Coal.

No wonder that Vice-President Biden is one of the strongest supporters of Barack Obama's War on Coal that has imposed taxes and regulations on energy industry, including America's coal industry, thus closing coal mines, killing over 25 000 of American jobs in addition of shipping American jobs as well as American coal plants to China where regulations on coal are lower.

In addition, Sherrod Brown has flip-flopped on coal since he was among the 4 Democratic Senators who voted against the Carbon Emissions Cap and Trade Plan of 2008. Then he shifted his position and now wants to tear down America's coal industry through higher taxes and regulations.

But in the last four years, we have turned things around. Under President Trump, we ended the War on Coal, which brought our coal mining jobs back home and helped us developing technologies that will produce clean coal thanks to carbon capture and storage technologies.

So in order to succeed our path to energy independence, to encourage job creation and to ensure a clean environment and to make sure that not a cent from our energy imports unwillingly falls in the hands of terrorists, vote for Mike Pence. Thank you!

March 10-12 :
-Mike Pence campaigns in Iowa, Minnesota and Michigan on free trade and agriculture
-Primary night party with supporters in Cincinnati, Ohio

I just discovered this timeline.  Very well done and I'm excited to see what happens next!  I especially liked Trump's takedown of the Dems in post #6 on the first page - that sounds just like him.

Kirsten Gillibrand Runs Ad “For All” I’m Primary States and Online

“I’ve never been one for settling. Good enough is often an excuse not to work hard.”

“Our healthcare system needs more hard work, and less settling. Republicans have slashed The Affordable Care Act, which was a compromise bill to begin with. I say enough is enough.”

“That’s why I cosponsored a Medicare-For-All bill, which would push this country to absolute universal healthcare coverage. No longer will Americans go broke trying to treat their illnesses.”

“Our system can’t be good enough, it has to be enough for all.”

“I’m Kirsten Gillibrand and I support this message.”

Schedule for March 2-12

March 2-4: Brown travelled between Illinois, Michigan and Ohio these days, campaigning on his backing from unions and his support for working-class Americans. He also declared that he would end the trade war with China, and once again ensure America was open for business.

He also gave a Town Hall in Cleveland, stating how Taft-Hartely had systematically destroyed the middle and working classes, and his plans to repeal it. This will be his priority during the first 100 days.

March 5-7

Brown travelled between Wisconsin and Indiana for these days, campaigning on similar issues to those he had the previous days. He ended up campaigning in industrial towns, visitng abandoned factories and vowing to see them re-opened. He also called for many old factories to be trandferred over to the building of 21st century technologies, saying that many of these facotries could easily be turned over to the construction of computers and other consumer goods.

March 8-12

Brown toured Nebraska, Kansas and Mississippi this time, visitng minority and working class neighbourhoods in an attempt to continue building up his base of working class voters in both states. He also called for the minimum wage in all states to be raised to $15 an hour, the minimum needed to sustain a basic lifestyle in the 21st century.

State of The Race
This is suppose to help show where each campaign is doing well and what their path to victory

The Democrats

Kristen Gillibrand

At this moment, Kristen Gillibrand is tied for first in national polls and is in a close battle for the delegate lead. Gillibrand has made a strong base in the northeast and has swept the northeast states so far with huge leads except for some surprise finishes by Jeter who is running a Sanders-like campaign. Gillibrand will be able to win a large sum of delegates if she continues her northeast campaign but it won't be enough for the nomination. If Gillibrand continues to only do well in the northeast and if she doesn't shut out Biden and Brown for delegates then Gillibrand will be hoping for a brokered convention.

If Gillibrand does want to avoid a brokered convention will have to win in new areas. Gillibrand has already started to do by trying to pull off a win in Michigan. Gillibrand does need to put extra effort into building a base and ground game in California, Florida, Illinois and in some of the smaller tossup states like Deleware.

Joe Biden

Joe Biden has a very good last few weeks. First, Michelle Obama victory in South Carolina pushed Doug Jones out of the race. Second, Joe Biden surprised the pundits with a victory in Nevada which pushed Michelle Obama out of the race which left the south wide open. Third, a late endorsement by the Obama's and Jones allowed Biden to win over the African-American vote and much of the south.
In recent weeks, Joe Biden has hit gold but we will have to see if that continues as the campaign is moving to the midwest and northeast.

Biden has a very different problem but in many ways the same to Senator Gillibrand's campaign strategy problems. Biden is doing very well like Gillibrand in a certain region, for Gillibrand but for Biden, it is the south with his overwhelmingly support from African-Americans. Unlike Gillibrand, Biden is running very well outside of the south but his problem is that he is coming up short almost every time.

If Biden wants to win on the first ballot then Biden needs to grow his campaign and put the focus on ever state like they did Nevada.

Sherrod Brown

Sherrod Brown started this race far behind the rest of his challengers and now he is in the delegate lead. Sherrod Brown has become the friend of the unions and blue collars after almost every big union have endorsed him. Brown has surged his support in the Midwest and especially in the rust belt.

Brown can win if he runs the numbers up in the midwest, win Illinois and win states like Nebraska, Kansas and the Dakota's. The problem is if he loses just one or two states then Brown has to expand his campaign. Brown would have to do what Biden and Gillibrand also have to do and expand his base of support but that could be a problem since Brown had trouble winning in the south other than Virginia.

Joaquin Castro

Joaquin Castro looked like an also-ran after a poor performance in Iowa where he ended up in dead last but then a higher than expected performance in New Hampshire and then a surprisingly strong second place in Nevada surged his campaign ahead of a crucial primary night of Super Tuesday. On Super Tuesday, Castro was able to tie with Biden for most wins on Super Tuesday. Castro is now just behind the three frontrunners.

Castro does have a flaw in his primary strategy, as many know Castro is doing very well with Latinos but he is not using that to the best of his abilities. Castro has put his money after his super Tuesday surge into very white and African-American states like Mississippi and Lousiana and not as much into more Latino-heavy states and territories as Northern Marine and Florida. If Castro doesn't pull of a win in Florida, it could be a rough few days till Arizona or New Mexico.

Derek Jeter

Derek Jeter has run a very interesting campaign, right now Derek Jeter is down because of the Oklahoma recount but with his strong support from Sanders 2016 he has been able to stay strong, well right now he is not strong but is afloat. Jeter could join the frontrunners but he must be able to prove his strength in former Sanders states like he did in Colorado, that means Jeter needs to win at least one of two states Brown is leading that Sanders won four years earlier.

The Republican

Mike Pence

Pence has run a very successful primary. First, most of Kasich's chief staff quit and blamed an unwilling Kasich which forced him out of the race then Pence and the RNC were able to pressure Pawlenty out of the race. Pence was able to stop any rebellions with Kasich voters but did suffer a minor humiliation in Vermont but since then he has been good about uniting the establishment Republicans that rebelled against the Trump bid.

Right now, Pence has the tough decision of choosing his vice-president and it will have to do multiple things. Though Pence has united much of the establishment, many that call themselves #NeverTrump are still having trouble coming into the Pence campaign. A good candidate would be a mix between Trump, establishment and moderate which will be difficult. Some of the good choices would be like an Adam Putnam or Rick Scott or Charlie Baker.
