If enough Democrat Senators played the delay game regarding throwing votes in to send the bill back to committee, then we would have had a real shot at delaying the bill until McCain had to go back to Arizona continue his cancer treatments, which would have costed the Republicans a yes vote.

While that Pelosi quote is beyond despicable, at least with ObamaCare we had nearly a year's worth of committee hearings, as opposed to this bill which had a pathetic 4 days of committee hearings. With ObamaCare, even though only one republican (Snowe) voted for it in committee and none did on the floor of either house of congress, republican amendments were genuinely considered, and in some cases were added to the bill. When the democrats offered amendments to this in committee, the GOP just laughed before quickly voting it down.
