They should start all introducing motions to adjourn.

Too lazy to read every page but anyone have a prediction on whether this will help or hurt Democrats in 2018? This may not affect or somewhat hurt the poor and college students, a democratic bloc but they don't vote much anyway.

If blue wave were to happen, it would be due to Obamacare supporters that usually don't vote and people who are turned off by Trump's behavior.

To be honest, I'm pretty sure Corker got the go ahead from McConnell to vote against the bill. If they need a yes vote from him, he would vote yes.

This will create a downballot disaster for Republicans in 2018, if it passes.

It should. But I don't know if it will.

For one thing, Democratic candidates need to run ads about it.

All 48 Dems have voted no. Sherrod Brown was last. Currently 48-49 against adjournment. Anyone know which three have yet to vote?

So Toomey just put in an exemption that cuts taxes for university.

Not universities. University.

In particular, Hillsdale College in Michigan, which has strong ties to the DeVoses (Erik Prince went there...)
It's actually six universities that do not receive federal funds: Hillsdale, Pensacola Christian, Grove City, Benedictine, Wyoming Catholic, and a small one in Oregon.

And Lee and Rubio are the last to vote. Motion fails 48-52, party lines.

I think only Hillsdale has a large enough endownment to qualify.

GOP Senators who vote down this measure could be explicitly framed with the intent for program cuts.

Now the Senate bill has the AMT coming back.  But raises the AMT exemption from married/singled $86,200/$55,400 to  $109,400/$70,600.  This pretty much moves the threshold for AMT hitting from AGI of around $180K to around $300K.  The medical deduction threshold made 7.5% as opposed to 10% of AGI for 2 years.  This threshold was a lot lower but was made 10% under the Obamacare law.
