If we end up going to war in the next 3 1/2 years, I'd say Paul. Otherwise, Kasich.

I don't think Amash has ruled out running in 2020.

There won't be a primary challenge, but if there is it's most likely gonna be Gov Kasich.

when you are incumbent there's no real opposition within the party. kasich can go against trump only as independent.

John Kasich is most likely. Nikki Haley could possibly challenge Trump if he gets on her nerves too much. She's clearly planning a run sometime in the future.

After 2016, I think the old rules no longer apply.

Not even old rules. 1980 and 1992 both saw semi-serious primaries of sitting presidents. Although '80 was more serious than '92.

Kasich.

If the wall never gets built, I expect some more of them to primary Trump.

Probably Amash, but Kasich could run if things go especially poorly for Trump.

Yes it is more likely than not that Trump faces Primary challenge. Big question will be will he go through primary process or will he simply run on his own line and potentially split the Republicans.

1. Kasich
1. Cruz
3. Rand Paul
4. Romney
5. Amash / Another Right-wing congressman if Cruz does not run.

There wont be a third party challenger of any note.
I'd say Kasich simply because he'd have nothing else to do, but its unlikely.

Amash is the only one who would benefit from it.

It's likely Kasich, but I hope him and Amash team up to give Trump a run for his money in 2020.

Primary challenges used to be more common. Nixon had 2 congressman challenge him in 1972.

Last week I would have said Amash, but now, with him jumping back into the spotlight, Kasich.

I'm guessing Kasich.

He has little to lose as a sixtysomething guy who will be out of office, and there's a nontrivial chance that Trump would encounter a serious political scandal which would leave him with a major head start.
