Extremely negative.  Any education program or system that assesses students based on standardized tests or goes by a one-size-fits-all mentality, and is based on the expectation that the achievement gap will decrease as a result, deserves to fail.

These results are so Atlas. Common Core has widespread support in both parties and in almost every state.

Yet again proving that bipartisan policies are probably the worst kind of policies.

That doesn't make it good policy.

And PNTR for China, and NAFTA and CAFTA, NSA spying, the PATRIOT Act, and entering the WTO, etc, etc.

All of this.

Common Core is horrible and I hope that it will be long gone by the time my own children enter school.  Thank God I was lucky enough to escape it.

Considering how much of a joke our current education system is compared to most first world nations, Common Core couldn't possibly be worse.

Clearly the work of the devil!

Are the people who oppose Common Core the same people who think we shouldn't teach basic algebra in high school?

I don't "get it", but I wasn't taught to the new standard. The results seem encouraging. Freedom Initiative.

No one likes taking tests, period.  And given that most here are either in high school or entering college, I wouldn't expect any test (no matter how well crafted) to win anyone's support here.

So it's remarkable that Common Core has as much support here as it apparently has.

The standards are fine in and of themselves. The standardized testing and union-busting? Not so much. And the way Common Core has been implemented in NC has been a disaster.

FI (normal, not a conspiracy theorist).

And the standardized testing is a result of NCLB, not CC.

How so? They give you an excuse to have to come into school for only a few hours and walk out not giving a sh#t. Maybe college should have them... Except I already only go to school for a few hours a day. Nevermind.

The Fins don't have them and their education system is one of the best. They also don't have homework. It's like actually good there.

I don't even go to class. I stopped going to class and all my grades went up because Youtube and Khan Academy are better at teaching than a top 25 business school.

God, I hate the education system in this country.
