@Lief and Oakvale: The two of you must not be very familiar with libertarian socialism as an ideology. Socialism is based in economics, at any rate, and statism to me refers to barefaced restrictions placed upon actual individual autonomy and privacy rights, ergo the PATRIOT Act and the NDAA and the recent epidemic of legislation like SOPA.

Socialism is often understood to be more than a system of economy, social justice and other issues of equality are core to socialism. You seem to be referring to authoritarianism, and you'll find me to be one of the Dems here that agrees with you most on those sort of issues. I still contend that "statist" is a word that's out of place coming from anyone other than a thirteen year old Ron Paul fanboy.
