I hadn't noticed either.. so I guess both are equally innocuous from my point of view.

I have to say, I love it when the forum Democrats eat each other.

Memphis is misogynist? When did he say/do/become this?
I've asked this before and got a less than satisfactory response.

(actually I can barely remember what the response was other than that there was one)

There was a bit of a kerfuffle a couple of months ago. I don't remember everything that was said, but I recall that he equated a woman dressing in a somewhat sexual manner to leaving one's door open in a bad neighborhood.

Obviously Cory's transphobia.

Memphis is certainly wrong on this issue, and can get unpleasantly defensive when called out- but I honestly believe he doesn't mean any harm.  Can't say the same about the other guy.

This sort of perspective bothers me more than anything:

And people like Memphis or Cory absolutely deserve to be attacked and denigrated.

Being hit on is not "sexual assault."  My positions are no way "misogynist." You guys need better dictionaries. And many of you need to get laid. Badly.

After reading Memphis' quotes, it appears the only crime he is guilty of is insufficient pedestalization.* Most of the evidence that 20RP12 provided are reasonable statements taken to hysterical conclusions. Seriously, how on earth does "you should take steps to avoid being a victim of _____ " = "I approve of _____"?

* Ok one of the quotes is bad, but one impromptu statement doesn't make a pattern

Wow. As someone outside of this strange flame-war, I think it's amusing to see that you interpret every single comment Memphis make in the worst possible way, never giving him the benefit of the doubt. If you did the same with other posters, many of them could probably appear fascist/racist/homophobic/etc. One of Memphis' posts was certainly insensitive, but not at all proof of him being some women-hater, and most of the others are completely blown out of proortion.

Memphis is misogynist? When did he say/do/become this?

Anyways, the answer is c) Hockeydude, Memphis, Opebo's etc. anti-religious bigotry.

Al... I'm so flattered that you mentioned me first.

: D

And the biggest problem with forum Democrats is the constant moral martyr mentality.  Using the term "whore" (referring to women AND men) in a thread about prostitution was apparently too much for some of our Democratic moral majority.  Lighten up!  I'm a literal advocate for money being taken from the wealthier peeps in my family and given to poors, but my use of vocab in the prostitution thread was enough to prove me to be incapable of empathy.

And Al.. I'm going to address the attachment of bigotry to my name:

Webster's:  person who is obstinately or intolerantly devoted to his or her own opinions and prejudices; especially : one who regards or treats the members of a group (as a racial or ethnic group) with hatred and intolerance

1) Show me ONE post where I directed my hatred towards the religious person themselves, and not the religion

2) Show me one post where I advocated the abolition of religious freedom

If you can dig up one of either, the tag of "bigot" is granted.  Truth is... my hatred of religion is directed 110% at the religion itself, and never once at the believer.

Cory easily. Yes memphis is far more prominent, but are his comments really more misogynist than other forum Dems?

Your standard doesn't even match up to the dictionary definition. You are obstinately and intolerantly devoted to prejudices about religion in general and Christianity in particular.

This is why I hate religion with such a passion.

However, even by your ridiculous standard, it was still relatively easy to find posts directing hatred towards religious people themselves, not institutions.

IMO, the Muslims and Christians are just so full of it and their "religion" is more of just a mind-control scheme.

Of course religion and it's institutions inherently suck... so anything that exposes them as the intolerant douchebags that they are is all gravy in my book.

If religous people didn't have their religion, most of them would be the most selfish bastards on this planet.

I stand by my point, you are an anti-religious bigot.

I don't like this thread, it's as mean spirited as the views it calls out.

Both of them grind my gears, but at least they'll discuss their views openly. Although I will say that memphis does so better than Cory who seems more likely to just quote something he disagrees with and write "lol" as it adds nothing to a conversation. Then again memphis assuming everyone who disagrees with him needs to get laid is on par for such uselessness.

I don't especially wish to come into HockeyDude's defense, but I must point out that a dislike of religion based on experience and rational reflection is not bigotry in any way. Religion is a societal phenomenon and everyone is free to judge whether its impact on society is fundamentally positive or negative. This is not in itself an attack on religious people.

I'm not a fan of being militantly atheist, but Hockeydude does have the right to bash religion til he's blue in the face.
