You have a choice. The power's in your hands.

You can move on from preparing or planning to eat healthier and make a healthy choice. That would be one of the healthier salads here:

http://www.crackerbarrel.com/restaurant/lunch-and-dinner-menu/salad-n-such/

Grilled Chicken or Grilled Chicken 'n Fresh Vegetable with a fat free dressing, and not too much of it. That will be satisfying and far healthier than a breakfast. No dessert and if you have a drink, it's diet soda or water.

If you choose an unhealthy "breakfast for dinner," knowing there are alternatives, then nothing will ever change, and all the talk about preparing and planning to change, or moving past it, will be meaningless.

What will you have for dinner?

You took a hiatus this morning. Diets can't be something you do sometime, they involve changing habits. You need to develop the habit of making the healthy choice and avoiding temptation. If you make excuses, bear in mind you're only making excuses to yourself. You know you're not accountable to anyone here, that's why you will sometimes "fib" or not keep promises. But if you can't keep promises to yourself, one step at a time, you're not in control and you're not dieting.

It's one step at a time. Take that step tonight.

Yea, that's pretty much the entire arc here. He'll never change.

That's all we've seen so far. But how often does he tell us hours in advance that he's going someplace unhealthy and is going to order something unhealthy?

Bushie, do this for yourself.

The classic Bushie dodge!

(He can't move himself off the couch, but he can "move past" his mistakes.)

I'm looking at the Grilled Chicken Salad.  I may leave off the tomatoes as I do not care for tomatoes, but the rest of the salad looks pretty good.  I can't find any nutrition info, though.  According to myfitnesspal, with the cheese wedge, its only 620 calories.  I bet if I leave off the tomatoes, it may be 575-600.  I don't normally have salad dressing, either, so I may leave that off or ask for it on the side.  Very interesting idea.

I only started following the show with this season, so I don't know as much about what happened in the past, but is the Alva trip one of the biggest wastes of money by Bushie('s parents)? Throwing away cash to pay for fast food, gas and a motel for no good reason except softcore motel porn?
Alva was a drop in an ocean. He's been chronically unemployed for three years. For a while he was making a mortgage in OK and renting an apt in Utah. Do the math. He even took an extra 1000 detour on the way home because he wanted ro see California.

Why still go to Cracker Barrel if you've already gone to McDonalds and blown most of your caloric budget there?

I've only been unemployed for 100 days.  That detour on the way home was longer, but it was to avoid getting stuck in 2 feet of snow in Western Kansas which would have happened.

1. He's never tried it.

2. He's never tried it.

I really think Bushie is just afraid to make the change.  I seriously doubt he's ever tested to see if he fills up on just one Bacon and Eggs plate or 1 sloppy joe.  It takes you 30 minutes to fill full.  He probably stuffs down his meals seconds, thirds, and all in 5 minutes and thinks he's dependent on eating as much as he does and the food that he does.

Look at the suggestion Duke made of the Grilled McChicken Sandwich.  Bushie went to McDonald's for dinner that night and still got a burger.  He can't even try a damn chicken sandwich because it's too different from his norm of burger much less vegetables and fruits.

I used to hate tomatoes. The watery, squishy texture.

The interesting thing is that his mom seems to have no interest in his diet.

Yeah, I don't want to parent bash, but after knowing he went to a dietitian, seeing that he has a problem, she suggests McD's and Cracker Barrel.....I can't fathom why?

Cracker Barrel is off the menu tonight.  Mom has a migraine and doesn't feel like eating the rest of the day.  I've got a 4 day old headache myself, anyway.  So, Dad and I are thinking of what to have.  Whatever we get will be early.

Yes, that basically makes the whole "exercise" pointless. His only real hope of weight loss is day to day supervision and pressure from someone actually living with him or at least meeting him regularly and there doesnt seem to be anyone.

Somehow I don't think time is the issue here.

Please tell me you're not getting fast food take-out.

I would suggest you two make some salad with vegetable, a bit of dressing and eat light. But I know that me doing that would be couterproductive.

I don't like fresh tomatoes either. Dried ones are pretty tasty though.

Doesn't he live in Oklahoma County then? It'd be exurban in that case, definitely not rural.

In terms of walkability, automobile-dependence, sustainability, and community coherence, living in a rural area is just as bad (and possibly worse) than living in a suburb or exurb.

Except for farmerss, retirees, and vacationers, there's really no reason for living in a rural area. Note that I am not referring to small towns, which are some of the most walkable and environmentally-friendly places around when they're fortunate enough to contain most of the amenities that their residents require (grocery stores, doctor's offices, libraries, restaurants, community buildings, parks, etc.)
This is much more true in the NE than in the rest of the country. Around here, there's usually an old decaying town square, centered around the county courthouse. Pretty much everything is centered around Wal-Mart which is located out on the periphery either at an interstate exit or on a US Highway bypass.  Suburbs often have extremely well maintained parks with baseball fields, tennis courts, bike paths or whatever. They have a lot more money to play with and people are more self conscious about their fitness level and diet.
