It doesn't make much sense to run in the 2nd or 4th, he'd lose either one.

I don't think any Dem would win them. Even Ross after his backflip.

Halter's spox gives an answer that amounts to no comment on seeking another office this cycle.

Brummett reports that Halter's real goal is to gain the party's blessing as consensus nominee against Boozman in 2016. By means of running against Griffin- win or lose.

Tolbert reports that Darr has moved back into CD4 and confirms that Cotton's announcement will be in August. Probably within the next 2 weeks IMO.

So is he morphing into the closest thing Democrats have to Ovide Lamontagne or John Raese?

If he runs and loses these 2 races, then yeah.

I'd love for Tom Cotton to lose just to see his star fade. The guy is legally insane.

Pub polling is being conducted. Questions include Pryor/Cotton, NRA favorability and messaging on Pryor/Obama being anti-gun. Can only imagine what this is for. Tongue

Pryor's getting joined in the primary by St. Rep. Bobby Tullis and a Some Dude. Alas, Tullis won't get any traction.

Cotton will be having a campaign dinner in his hometown of Dardanelle on Tuesday, where he's going to reveal his political plans.

Darr will be making an announcement today. Either he says publicly he's moving back to Mansfield (his hometown, in the 4th) or jumps the gun.

Maybe now PPP will finally poll here. I'm curious to see how Pryor responds to Cotton's entry. Probably safe to imagine it involves more Bubba.

He did save her in the primary, not so much the general. Tongue

First domino topples: Westerman will run in the 4th. Darr will let it be known he's running later today, but I assume neither will publicly jump the gun.

Pryor's campaign responds with not hopscotch, but Cotton's voting record. Weird tack for an R+14 state.

I suppose farm bill is popular?
Honestly, maybe it's a R+14 state, but I don't think it's a Ted Cruz state. It's a social conservative, they're not so extreme on economy like Cotton.

Cook has moved this Senate race from Leans D to Tossup. Sabato already had it at Tossup before today.

Darr said he's back in the 4th and will announce within 2-3 weeks, but the interview was done before Cotton leaked his news this morning. So Darr can move that timetable up if he wants. Jerry can correct me if I'm wrong, but I'd peg Westerman as the favorite in the 4th.

Cotton is one opportunistic little dick. It'd be one thing if he held office prior to being elected to Cingress. But he's announcing a run for Senate only 7 months after actualy being sworn into any office.

AR-04 could be very competitive. Obama lost it 36-62, but the district was drawn to elect a Blue Dog like Mike Ross, who likely would've held it if he didn't retire.

AR-04's candidates:
*=Not formally announced, but has expressed interest

GOP:
State House Majority Leader Bruce Westerman
Lt. Gov Mark Darr
Businesswoman Beth Anne Rankin*

Democrats:
State Rep. Jeff Wardlaw*
State Sen. Bobby Pierce*
