An LA Times article about Clinton's presidential ambitions, featuring several quotes from John Hickenlooper turns out to be more a window into the thinking of Hickenlooper himself:

I don't think Hickenlooper will run if Clinton does, but that bolded quote is another clue Hickenlooper's own denials of interest in running (if Clinton doesn't) shouldn't be taken too seriously.

Santorum had to cancel his Iowa visit this week. He's in the hospital. Sad   They're saying it's nothing serious but they want to make sure.

The illness is apparently "gastro-intestinal illness and dehydration":

I was going to mention that but second guessed, realizing the jokes that would be made.  Tongue

Scott Walker is on a trade mission to China:

http://wsau.com/news/articles/2013/apr/14/governor-walker-on-trade-mission-to-china/

Christie is trying to push through a tax cut in NJ, possibly to help his chances in the 2016 primaries:

http://www.nj.com/politics/index.ssf/2013/04/christie_revives_tax_cut_and.html

New York Magazine has a big cover story on Andrew Cuomo, calling him the shrewdest American politician since LBJ, based on the work he's done in Albany, pushing his agenda through:

http://nymag.com/news/features/andrew-cuomo-2013-4/

It's seven pages long, with the final two pages being all about his presidential ambitions:

That was an excellent article on Cuomo; it really highlighted his brilliance as a politician and the dark sides of his ambition and DLC-esque triangulation. Even as a fan of his I appreciate reading an honest, level-headed critique like that.

Schweitzer definitely seems to be going wobbly on a potential presidential run.  I mean, the concerns he voices here have been made before, and it isn't necessarily definitive, but I'd say he can pretty definitively be rated lower than the Biden-Cuomo-O'Malley triumvirate in terms of likelihood to run now:

I still think he's definitely running in a Hillary-less field. But maybe he's about to primary Baucus and make the seat Safe-D?

This week, Christie will attend the dedication of the George W. Bush Presidential Library in Dallas….then briefly return to New Jersey before heading to DC for the White House Correspondents dinner:

Baucus is retiring from the Senate, and Schweitzer might run for his seat rather than run for prez:

Meanwhile, I mentioned a few page back that Gingrich had said that he wasn't yet ruling out another presidential run.  Well, maybe he doesn't need to run for president again to get a job, as he may move to CNN's Crossfire:

Klobuchar very clearly dodging the question, and giving a non-denial on whether she'd think about running for president.  At the end of this interview, she's asked if she's running for president in 2016, and says:

She also says that Minnesota has a strong tradition of producing vice presidents.....not that she's hinting that someone should put her on the short list if she isn't the presidential nominee herself in 2016!

Also, O'Malley's in Israel, and again says that he's thinking about running:

Yeah, I noted that a few weeks ago when the speeches were announced:

https://uselectionatlas.org/FORUM/index.php?topic=164982.msg3676514#msg3676514

All these things get two rounds of publicity: Once when a candidate appearance is announced, and another when it takes place.  I'm actually constantly finding myself noticing the second round of publicity, then thinking "Wait, did I already post that when it was first announced?", then looking back in this thread to find the answer.  My memory's fading in my old age.  Tongue

A few tidbits on the Democratic side:

Cuomo

The New York Post reports that Cuomo is telling people that he's definitely out of the race if Hillary Clinton runs:

Gillibrand

Politico has a big story out titled "Could Gillibrand run for president?"

None of this is new.  I've posted on all this stuff before.  But the article gives you a nice recap of the state of play on Gillibrand 2016.  It also gives you some comments by a potential rival 2016er, Howard Dean:

Villaraigosa

Looks like he won't be Sec. of Transportation after all:

http://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/obama-taps-charlotte-mayor-to-lead-transportation-department-official-says/2013/04/28/21702a5a-b050-11e2-bbf2-a6f9e9d79e19_story.html

Unclear what Villaraigosa is going to do.  He made some moves in 2012 suggesting a possible interest in the White House, but has more recently suggested that he'd be more interested in running for governor of California.  Of course, if Brown runs for reelection next year, then there isn't going to be an opening for a while.  In an interview that Villaraigosa just gave:

Ryan again sounding a bit skeptical about future national office, notes that serving as Romney's VP would have involved personal sacrifice:
