I indeed have voted outside my party. One democrat back in 2002 for a local race. In 2010 for SoS and my congressional district I voted for the libertarian. Will do so again if Romney is GOP nominee.

For a county commissioner every time he's up for reelection, and for a judge whose opponent was an alcoholic mess.

Since 2009, when I could legally vote, I've voted Democratic in every partisan race so far. Granted, there haven't been that many races since then. One exception was in the race for State Senator last year, when I wrote my own name in just for the hell of it. I sorta voted for my dad in 2008, and I chose McKenna and Reed then. Next year, I'll probably vote for Reed again if he stays at SoS because I think he's a good and capable administrator and that party doesn't matter for that position (unless you're in Florida), but I won't vote for McKenna for anything.

I've voted in a total of 7 elections and in these 7 elections I've voted for a total of 5 parties. Or possibly 4, can't remember for certain. Come to think of it, it's actually 5-6 parties in 8 elections. So I can't really say that I have a party. Tongue

I'm guessing you're counting County and City Council elections then as well, or you're a lot older than I thought. Tongue

In 1998, I voted for a Republican judge (who was pretty moderate anyway) against the Democratic nominee who had a bad scandal.

Since then, all Democratic. I doubt there'd ever be a plausible reason for me to vote Republican in any major race.

Since there are so many elections and votes in Switzerland it happened that I voted for a Green Party candidate in a completely minor local election. I usually vote for candidates of the SVP or FDP, though.

I have been known to vote for Republicans at the county level when there are no challengers. If there were an individual candidate I really liked and the Democrat running were centrist enough, there is a solid chance that I would vote for a Green or democratic socialist. My vote tends to be ideologically-decided, so it is exceptionally rare for me to see a Republican candidate I'd support.

No (NDP only runs in federal election in Quebec), but I voted for a right-wing mayor.

He is competent and his opponent was insane (socially far-right (women should stay at home and stop stealing men' jobs, gays are men with a woman head, Jews create wars to make money), economically he wanted the city to participate in his Ponzi-lite scheme and he wanted to city to buy the businesses of the city, and he was doing advertising for its H1N1 flu and cancer.)

I've voted Democratic on most of the statewide things in 2010- I mixed it up some on the local/county level. It's tough when there's 300 or so offices to vote for to go straight ticket; plus I skipped voting in TX-22 because the Republican is so far right and the Democrat that somehow won was part of the LaRouche movement...

No, but i have not voted at all yet. I could vote outside my party since both of the major parties suck balls.

I'm a registered Republican, but I don't think I've voted for the Republicans for any office since I've been eligible to vote. It's mostly a placeholder for the Presidential primaries.

I voted for Republican Reno major Bob Cashell last year. He is reasonable and a good considerate man.
