Holocaust denier, HP. Probably still better for Brazil and the environment than his fascist alternative, and the best way of dealing with someone like him is reminding them how thoroughly irrelevant they are on the global stage.

How is he a Holocaust denier? I'm pretty sure he'd answer yes to the question of whether Nazi Germany killed 5-7 million Jews.

He said what Israel is doing is a "unique evil" on par with the Holocaust. It was clearly hyperbolic but nowhere near denial. Of course, that didn't stop the usual suspects from going into a tailspin.

Glad he's holding his own in this poll too. It is clear the majority see beyond the very tedious and false antisemitism allegations.

I like that he’s losing approval here though, it’s a good sign. Never understood why people loved him when his geopolitical instinct was always pretty much 95% aligned with mine and the traditional left lol

I mean, I kinda get it because of the Bolsonaro effect. Even here where I live, many liberals that were enthusiastic about Bolsonaro in 2018 warmed up somewhat to Lula in 2022.

Okay, maybe Mike Johnson is a competent parliamentarian.

Lula is/was well-liked on the forum and similar mostly-center-left Anglophone spaces for reasons other than geopolitics.

Regardless of what you think of his policies, let's not forget that he is literally a convicted money launderer.

Given that conviction was annulled, can you literally say that?

From 1945 to 2024, Lula had FF and HP parts of this life, like any other human being. But on balance, he is FF. In October 2026, I will evaluate again, but my evaluation will depend on the sucess/failure of his administration.

I really don't care if he said something some people dislike about Israel. The most important issues related to Gaza is that more than 1% of the population is already dead, many people are starving, there is a lack of medicine, there are amputasions without anesthesics, more than half of the buildings were already destroyed, and a minister of Netanyahu administration told that she is proud of the ruins of Gaza.
The choice of words made by Lula to describe what is happening in Gaza is a minor issue. Some people might think it is correct, some people might think it is not correct, but it is not the most important topic concerning Gaza.

He's also shilling yet again for Maduro and the Venezuelan regime, stating just today that the Venezuelan "election" will have observers to vouch for its legitimacy, equating the Venezuelan opposition's complaints to Bolsonaro's election denialism, and stating something along the lines that Maria Corina Machado, the opposition candidate unfairly disqualified by the regime, should "stop crying" and seek a replacement.

Even by the (low) standards of much of the Latin American left when dealing with Maduro, Lula in this term has managed to be almost absurdly obsequious to that regime.
