Good domestically, not good foreign policy wise

On balance FF

This, but on balance I'd say neutral or soft HP after recent Ukraine comments.

I'd honestly prefer Brazil aligning more with the West instead of enabling China and Russia through BRICS. I'm not a fan of Javier Milei, but he made a good decision by withdrawing Argentina from BRICS (or actually overturning plans to join it).

Biggest domestic-foreign contrast I’ve ever seen (Millei comes close but in the polar opposite). On balance- HP. You can’t support Putin’s invasion and be a good person.

Which other politicians would you categorize as senile?

Lula never said he endorsed Russian invasion on Ukraine.

Lula met Putin many times in 2003-2010 due to the Brics. Since the war started, he didn't meet Putin yet. Probably they will meet in the G20 summit in Rio de Janeiro which will take place on November 2024. Lula has already met Zelenski in NYC on September 2023.

Holocaust denier, HP. Probably still better for Brazil and the environment than his fascist alternative, and the best way of dealing with someone like him is reminding them how thoroughly irrelevant they are on the global stage.

Brazil is nowhere close to irrelevant in any capacity. Like it or not, they're a huge, increasingly important country. This is just cope.

Brazil's GDP has gone up $200 Billion since I was born- the US has gone up by nearly 50 times that amount in the same amount of time.

Brazil- like much of the global south- is an underdeveloped sh**thole with politicians who like to critique the human rights abuses of advanced western countries while cuddling up with fellow sh**thole countries that are even worse abusers of human rights.

Horrible communist. Disgraceful that Biden was supporting him and his campaign, when Bolsonaro was the pro-US option.

Bolsonaro almost literally wants to make the planet uninhabitable, you absolute clown.

If you mean seriously (as I do in this case), then ones that display clear signs of the sort of mental deterioration associated with various forms of dementia. Strange and disturbing statements that have some relation to the sorts of things the person in question might once have said are a better indication that getting names wrong and terminology confused: the false positive rate on the latter would be absurdly high. In terms of people still in leadership positions, the classic case would be Urho Kekkonen.

Hmm, by these same parameters, then the recent controversial remarks don't qualify as proof, as its a category error, and that falls under getting terminology and categories confused in a way that suits one's own biases, no? People of any age could make such a mistake. It's not proof of senility.

The State Department backing him before the 2022 election was an absolutely horrific mistake. Lula, cachaceiro, devolve meu dinheiro!

EDIT: Video of large crowd chanting replaced with funk remix of the chant

Lula vs. Bolsonaro was like the most blatantly obvious good vs. evil election in recent memory, far moreso than Biden vs. Trump.

How is he a Holocaust denier? I'm pretty sure he'd answer yes to the question of whether Nazi Germany killed 5-7 million Jews.

Since apparently my posts don’t show up in the Israel war thread, I will post here:

After Lula’s comments comparing the Holocaust to what’s happening in Gaza today, the USA government announced a possible ceasefire on Monday, also talking about Israel having to pause what’s going on the risk of “losing international support”

No other existing figure in the world deserves a Nobel Peace Prize more than Lula. A geopolitics genius who knows the right timing to conciliate and the timing to make a stand and pressure.

Regardless of what you think of his policies, let's not forget that he is literally a convicted money launderer.

You clearly are ignorant on the matter because even if the process wasn’t undemocratic and biased, that’s not what they jailed him for.

He said what Israel is doing is a "unique evil" on par with the Holocaust. It was clearly hyperbolic but nowhere near denial. Of course, that didn't stop the usual suspects from going into a tailspin.

Glad he's holding his own in this poll too. It is clear the majority see beyond the very tedious and false antisemitism allegations.
