Go Connie Mack IV.

Looks like we will be on opposite sides of a nasty primary fight. I think Rubio would be smarter to wait till 2012. Going up against Mack is almost like challenging a Bush, in Florida terms anyway. Instead this could be like CO 2004 with a nasty primary fight producing a weakened candidate in a swing state. Granted the 2004 FL Sen primary was nasty Martinez had help from above in the general. Whoever the nominee is won't have that with him. First we will have to see if Mack runs.

No, let's have Mack wait. Wink At least he has a House seat that he can spend some time in. Rubio is out of office.

In your opinion ,Phil, do you think that Rubio would try to challenge a Mack in a primary. As I said thats like challenging a Bush in Florida.

Not sure how Rubio thinks. Maybe he's crazy enough to do it and score a major upset.  Wink

Of course Crist chooses my Birthday to announce he's getting in the race.  Sad

Eh, as I said elsewhere, I don't have much of a problem with the guy. I just prefer Rubio.

As for the governors mansion, I like both Sink and McCollum.

McCollum!  Smiley

Too bad he's still a weak candidate. I wonder if Rubio will get out of the Senate race to run for Governor. They might make him a deal and if the guy is as ambitious as they say, you don't just pass up having a great shot at being Governor of one of the largest states (which happens to be a swing state).

Good to see McCollum - a not so stellar candidate - beating OMG MOST POPULAR THING IN FL SINCE TEH EPCOT CENTER!!! Sink in the Gubernatorial race.

Uh, name recognition Phil, as you're quick to point out in polls that favor your candidates.  McCollum has run statewide, what, four times already?

Ok but someone isn't as incredibly popular as you make her out to be if her name recognition is so low. That's my point.

And I'm quick to point out name recognition issues with "my candidates" but I also don't salivate at the idea that they're wildly popular.

Then don't make her out to be the biggest deal in the state.

1)According to the poll, among those who know her, Sink IS very popular.

She's polling in the same range as Toomey yet I've never seen a topic about Toomey being super popular and the second coming of Christ.

And we always see the analysis that McCollum is weak but never the spin that "among those that know him, McCollum is popular!"

LOL

The point was always that Alex Sink is extraordinarily popular. Now you're moving the goal posts. "She's popular among...the few people that know her." If we're using this standard, why haven't the hacks here that talked up Sink's chances concede that McCollum is more popular?

Where are all of these people raving about Sink, Phil?  I think you need to take a chill pill Phil over this sink thing.  We both know this is a name recognition poll and we both know McCollum has far more of it.

I'm a constant presence in the Florida thread...and...I just don't remember seeing people going "OMG SINK" ever.  She's the most popular Democratic politician in the state, but that's it.

LOL

You never talked up Sink as an amazingly popular figure? Really? Wow.

No, we don't both know this is name recognition. You were going nuts over the woman months ago.

More crazy Phil fantasy that people made Sink out to be Christ-like...

if Sink isn't as great as people say she is.

whatever your literally delusional memory is constructing.

Again, see the quote from Sensei. I was the only one just imagining the hero worship for Sink...

She will defeat any Republican challenger that's not name Bush or Crist.

Bow in her glory - Alex Sink!

Floridians just go crazy over their CFO. Here's a list of the things they care about, in order...

And the full quote from Sensei is hardly "going nuts" over her either or OMG CHRISTLIKEFIGURE

Uh...that was my point. He was calling out others that were praising her. He clearly said her popularity is overstated.

I just remember a lot of updates from you whenever Alex Sink walked outside of her house or something. When she announced that she wasn't running, it was like they announced Disney World was closing or something.

Please cite those posts of mine where I update whenever Sink leaves her house or where I acted as if Disney World was closing when she said she wouldn't run, those posts don't exist.  All I did was post news articles with no commentary and later, in a recruiting thread, merely said that this was a recruiting failure.

Dude, you went nuts when she announced she wasn't running and you single handedly talked her up more than anyone else here. I had never heard of the woman before you started posting articles about her nearly everyday.

Yeah, you're right. I was wrong. You didn't obsess over the woman. My apologies.

I just never understood why this woman was talked up as "the most popular Democrat in Florida." It made her seem like such a big deal. Doesn't she have that honor by default anyway (since she's the only statewide elected Dem)?

I'm not apologizing for anything. I found the constant hyping of "popular" Alex Sink to be ridiculous. It suggested that this woman was a huge deal and she clearly isn't.

You can stop taking this so personally now, Lunar. I know you think very, very highly of yourself but this is getting to be a little too much now.

You don't have to apologize, you can admit you were wrong and/or delusional.

And contribute to the Lunar Lovefest? No thanks.

I'm actually shocked, to be honest. Why would the FL Dems ever want to run Sink when they could run you! Just move to FL! I mean, you switched political parties when opportunity presented itself. What's wrong with a little carpetbagging every once in awhile?

So, you won't admit that you're wrong with your initial claims and instead are relying on personal insults?  Ok.

Stop hyping her as the most popular Democrat in Florida (when she gets that by default) and people will stop thinking that you're going crazy over her.

So you still won't admit that she was clearly overhyped (as we can see based on the Sensei, a Florida Democrat, commentary)? Ok.

So to prove I'm not egotistical, I have to admit I was wrong because I exposed the overhyping of some state row office holder? Ok, Lunar, you win!

Dude, honestly, the ego is clearly out of control. This was over like ten posts ago and you keep going.

I think the last two elections have shown that people have realized that long ago.

Yeah, true but it still came in behind "Republicans hate my family because we are poor/middle class/minority/a 'working family'" option in the "Reason why you voted against the GOP?" survey.

I don't want an apology, as I said.  I wanted to correct a repeated factual inaccuracy, but I guess all I get by requesting a correction is personal insults.

I know, I know but I'll still make the offering at the Altar of Lunar.

I've explained why it wasn't a factual inaccuracy, Lunar. You keep repeating it because you like dwelling on your favorite subject: yourself.

Not surprising considering Rubio was probably Huckabee's highest profile supporter in FL in 2008.

LOL

I didn't even watch that video but I know enough about Brown's...eh...articulate nature. She was one of my favorite objectors during the counting of the electoral votes in the joint session of Congress after the 2000 election.

She said that the voters "was disenfranchised" in the "last 'lection."

Smith will be as much of a joke as he was in 2010 which means he won't even stay in the race. If he does, he's not going to be a factor.

True but I don't think he'll actually get into the race. He won't have any real support. He didn't in 2004. Now maybe he just wants the spotlight for a little and will take any help the Crist campaign might offer. I'm not sure though.

I guess it's unfair to say he won't be a factor at all but this guy isn't going to get much support and the difference between Rubio and Crist, while most likely close, might not necessarily equal Smith's vote percentage.
