Humphrey - 64.03%
Nixon - 31.78%
Wallace - 4.07%

or 1964?

Johnson - 80.87%
Goldwater - 19.13%

(That '68 result was pretty impressive, btw)

Heck, that Harding result wasn't even the most Republican RI has been.

Yes, I am aware of this, however, the point I was making is that as a percentage of the popular vote in Rhode Island Obama never beat Harding.

1920 is the most recent election in which the Republican scored higher than Obama.  I am not pleased to say that, however, those are the facts.

What is the point of saying this? Some Republican beat Obama a long time ago, so..?

Someone started throwing numbers around in this thread so I simply added some other numbers to add to this scintillating discussion.
