I just got back from voting at my polling place in Memphis.  There was one other person there.  It's a working class neighborhood, though, so maybe everyone voted early before heading to work?

I’m willing to admit that if Biden wins Maine & Minnesota; this is a lean Biden primary.

Biden better not pull a Hillary and choose a Tim Kaine as VP; young progressives will stay home.

I'd be shocked if he does. My first bet would be Kamala Harris.

1.  Tim Kaine was a good pick.
2.  Kamala Harris would be a good pick too.

Thanks, Liz

Extremely disappointed with her tonight.

It's pretty clear she wanted to prevent Bernie from ever getting the nomination.

If she wanted to destroy Bernie, she would have gone after him during the debates instead of wasting time on Bloomberg.

Warren just has sh**tty political instincts (that has always been her weaknesses), but she wasn't trying to intentionally hurt Bernie.

I don't get why so many people say this. She's run a good campaign!  Winning is just really hard and often requires a lot of luck.

what are the chances that Warren and Bloomberg drop out in the coming days?

The interesting thing is that we kept hearing about a contested convention, but right now the delegates are being pretty much split between two people because nobody's really making the 15% threshold anywhere.  Though I expect that to change in California.

Warren should have dropped out after NH, but her staying in just shows how horrific her political insticts are.

I doubt Bloomberg is going to keep spending barrels of money, he'll get out now that Bernie is on the ropes.

Warren is smart to stay in.  She has the money to keep her campaign afloat for a while yet and there's still a real possibility of a contested convention where she may be able to extract some policy/personnel concessions from the eventual nominee.  What's the harm in staying in?

She isn't even competing in MA, the only hope she has is if Bernie and Biden die and even then

She has turned herself into a complete nonfactor. Not a good look to finish third in your home state.

Look at Amy and Pete, they went out with dignity.

Great, and what does that get them besides a bit of good will?  Meanwhile, Warren is picking up delegates here and there.  Not a lot, but enough to potentially have some influence if a contested convention actually happens.  That's leverage, and I'll take leverage over dignity any day.

Absolutely embarrassing for Warren to barely get 20% in her home state. She is an awful politician.

I agree with this.  It's unfortunate because I really appreciate her background, grasp of the issues and her message.  She has terrible political instincts, however.

Yup.

Wasted all that time attacking Bloomberg which caused blue check marks on twitter to cream their pants while letting Sanders (her biggest threat skate by). She got nothing out of destroying Bloomberg, all his support went right back to Biden.

Just an awful politician.

In hindsight her attacks on Bloomberg actually harmed the progressive cause by helping the moderates consolidate around Biden.

It certainly hurt her campaign and Sanders's, but I wouldn't say it "harmed the progressive cause."  Biden is very progressive!  Helping eliminate Bloomberg was a win for progressivism, no matter which of the remaining three end up as the nominee.

She had two choices.  Go after Sanders and try to win or drop out and endorse him. Attacking Bloomberg may have felt good, but it was never going to accomplish much.

It helped push Bloomberg out of the race.  That's a win for progressivism.

And personally, even if this wasn't her intention, I think helping deny Sanders the nomination will actually be better for progressivism in the long run too.  Warren is getting lots of criticism on here tonight, but let's think about the crappy political instincts Sanders has shown.  He was the frontrunner just a couple of days ago and had every advantage,  but he doubled down on praise for Fidel Castro (!!!) and continued to alienate and piss off all the potential allies he'd need to bring the party together around him.  His political instincts are shat.

I said this early today and I was barked at.  Bernie should drop out tonight for the good of the party.  He is d.o.n.e.

Warren isn't even dropping out.  No way Sanders does.  He needs to give his supporters some hope I guess.  So it's fair for him to stay in a few more months.

Agreed.  He should stay in until it's certain that Biden will be the nominee.  There's nothing wrong with meaningful competition.  But once Biden does have it locked up, let's not have a replay of 2016 (or 2008).
